Soldera's neighbor. Tiny amounts produced. In a incredible place right now. I've had this vintage 2 years ago and from there this serious wine became to integrate all its elements. Now it's perfumed, colour started to fade, terciary aromas are more upfront and alcohol - even at 15% - is totally integrated. Really savory, traditional and structured. Bravo! — 9 years ago

American influenced hop-forward saison brewed with spelt and European hops. Zippy, crisp, and delicious! — 10 years ago
Had the '85 the other day, this is a beautiful bottle yes, but I think the '85 out performs it, there's a classic '82 richness to it, but the fruit is starting to fade away a little. — 10 years ago
Fruit was starting to fade a little, but still good structure and acidity — 11 years ago
What a treat. From the company to the antics of the cork removal, all was fantastic. Not surprised with some immediate mustiness on the nose, giving way to a rich but smooth aged blue cheese, mushrooms, soy sauce, earth, and just a faint hint of dried red fruit. Over the next 20 minutes the glass development was out of control, changing with each and every whiff and sip. Earthy umami, oxidative, and and slightly stewed reds to begin quickly opened to nice dried strawberries on the palate and nose, and advancing to moderately subdued ripened strawberries and cranberries- after 61 years and still kickin with fruit! Amazing. Then after about 20 minutes of rapid metamorphosis, it gave in and decided to fade to a very pleasant sipper...awesome. — 11 years ago
Foppiano is an O.G. petite sirah producer, who unfortunately saw a precipitous decline in quality recently. The old stuff is still great though and is as ageable as anything. This is still big and black as night, but the tannins are starting to fade a bit. Still has the stuffing to go another 20, but it's great right now and is taking on secondary characteristics that most PS's never quite pick up. — 11 years ago
Bright red cherry and nice full tannins. I truly like this wine and look forward to its evolution next 1-3 years as tannin fade a bit and fruit balances across red/blues. — 12 years ago
From L’Attendant in Bordeaux. Drinking really nicely but starting to fade a bit. Drink up — 9 years ago
If you thought Australian wine weren't for you or just weren't that noteworthy, you haven't had Dan Standish's wines. This is as good as any great producer I've had anywhere. On the nose, boysenberry, blueberries, black raspberries, olallieberries, raspberries, vanilla, nutmeg, clove, Asian spices, raspberry cola, dry stems and brilliantly fragrant violets. The mouthfeel and texture are liquid elegant heaven. 12 years in the bottle and it's just now peaking. On entry, it's a rush of ripe, lush; boysenberry, blueberries, black raspberries, raspberries &raspberry cola. Dark chocolate, darker but mellowed spices with uplifting heat, hint of pepper, loamy moist soils, dusty tannins, crushed dry rocks, vanilla, nutmeg, clove, blue fruit pie with crust, volcanic minerals, liquid fragrant violets, perfect acidity with a finish that doesn't fade and lasts minutes. The tension, length, structure and balance push perfection. photos of; estate with with Dan, wide side shot of the estate, a sample of the soil structure of the vineyard this wine is grown...under the top soil and Dan's estate vines. Producer history and notes...The Standish Wine Company was created in 1999. Dan Standish purchased a small parcel of Old Vine Shiraz from his parent’s vineyard in the heart of the Barossa Valley. The 96-year old vines are planted on the typical sand over clay soil profile characteristic of Vine Vale the sub region of the Barossa Valley. Dan never got a enology degree. He learned on his own traveling to the Rhone Valley. The influence definitely comes out in his wines despite the very different terroirs. He's worked in various regions around the world including; Napa, Sonoma and La Rioja. After he returned to Australia, he eventually became the Winemaker at Torbreck in the Barossa Valley. Interestingly, Dan worked as a chemical engineer prior to his career as a Winemaker. Meeting him for the first time in April was a pleasure. He is a true salt of the earth type of person, with a great sense of humor, who is absolutely passionate about making wine. He marches to his own drum...not at all a person who follows trends or changes styles if something or one becomes successful. His wines are beautifully special if you can find them on Winesearcher or other. He does not have, need nor want a US importer. He sells all his wine through his mailing list. You can order his wines from here but the shipping charges are hugely expensive from Australia. The shipping cost for three bottles were as much as the cost of the three bottles. The quality of his wines will stand in there with any producer world wide. Tasting his new releases in April was impressive. Finding a well aged bottle back in the US to enjoy tonight is simply fabulous! — 9 years ago

As a burg should be. Floral nose nevertheless balanced by hints of minerals and stones, lemon scents. Lean body with good structure. Medium finish with acid lingering. CVed. With st innocent. 9/2/16. Will try again later. Second tasting CV: 9/28/16. Nose a bit more oxidized (cv?) Palate still balanced with acids and minerals and fruit and with long complex finish. Still 9.0. Compared to 3 others. 10/3/16 opened. Still great, no sign of seepage despite a bit of liquid on the cap. Cork very tight and difficult to extract. So 2x CV was OK. Excellent wine. Yum. Finish shows off mineralality and complexity though it did fade pretty quickly. — 10 years ago
Took four nights to finish, and didn't fade! Lees, chalk, lemon peel. Vibrant and good value. — 11 years ago
The nose has notes of lavender and a faint reminder of beach sand. The first sip started a bit spicy with cinnamon and nutmeg. The tannins are high and chalky at first but fade quickly. The finish is a nice combination of wood, toast and blackberry. I think this wine would benefit from another few years of aging. — 11 years ago
1983. Elegant and subtle cab with soft red fruit, spice and cedar, probably just beginning to fade. — 11 years ago
In great shape. N a bit fade but palate exquisite. — 12 years ago
Love the sour zing in this Tassie Pinot almost like orange rind. Loads of black fruits and black cherries, fine tannins that fade just a little too quickly for my liking, probably because it's an '11. French oak nicely balanced and doesn't overpower. Could be mistaken for an Otago. — 12 years ago
Big fan. Saw a noted drinking window thru 2017 which made me nervous. But this is drinking great and doesn’t seem ready to fade any time soon. Yum. — 9 years ago
DRC Richebourg 1971, in jeroboam: fully mature, but incredibly still fresh and vibrant and concentrated, with serious complexity, highlighted by notes of soy sauce and dueling sensations of cedar and forest floor. This bright, medium-to-full bodied star didn’t fade over the 90 minutes of dinner, and its finish trailed off into a seeming eternity. A top 5 wine of my life. — 9 years ago
Deep ruby turning to reddish Brown. Very well balanced, still in good shape although probably nearing the end before it starts to fade. Black cherries, leather, tobacco. — 10 years ago
Lovely Barolo with a nice grittiness, classic tongue-stripping tannins, Kirsch, and some herbal notes after about 45 minutes open that fade in an hour or so. Not as good as some other vintages I've had - a bit more tarry on the tongue and not as voluptuous. Perhaps in a dumb period, or maybe just not the best vintage from this producer. — 10 years ago
Young but drinking beautifully. Perfumed nose with Lilac and Cherry dominating. A bit on the tannic side but that will fade with time. If this is what we can expect from the 2014 Loire Vintage the hype is well deserved. — 10 years ago
This Fanti is welcome, denser, more opaque in the glass, fuller bodied that any of the others. I had one class and then it sat for 18 hours and didn't fade a notch and the time added an extra dimension.
It has the characteristic herb nose of 2010, it's like standing in a garden, a fresh wind is carrying herbs and strawberry, growing nearby are cherries.
The fuller palate also has cherries and red fruit, perfect tannin led integration, great balance, superb mouth feel.
Damn these 2010's are good!

Aging well, cola and red raspberry on the nose. Cloudy, with very little fade. Excellent bottle. Great with lamb. — 14 years ago

My last bottle of 1995 Seavey. Certainly beginning to fade, but enjoyable nonetheless. — 9 years ago
