Dense and concentrated - this wine needs years and I erred in not decanting it not giving much on the nose initially. With time and vigorous swirling aromas of Violets Liquorice Lavender Peppercorns and uncooked Bacon always with the minerality of the vineyard - the Gimblett Gravels. On the palate powerful latent flavours with so much more to give. Generally recognised as probably the best Syrah in New Zealand and if not certainly in the conversation with Craggy Range. Listed in the 1001 Wines. Very difficult to source in Australia and I ended up visiting them in January 2017 in Hawkes Bay and getting on the mailing list. 94 points now but in 3 to 5 years 97 or 98. World class Syrah without doubt. — 7 years ago
Pale to mid Lemon in colour. Typically lush old school Art Series Chardonnay with Nectarine And Peach and touch of Orange Peel. Profound mid palate intensity and flavours still with Latent Power and cleansing acid. Tastes like a 3 or 4 year old wine, not nearly 10 years. More Puligny Montrachet than Corton Charlemagne. Great wine. Tasted again 41 weeks later on 2nd October 2019 with consistent notes. Noticeable peaches and cream on the palate. — 7 years ago

I didn’t pick up any of the Viognier in here, but fantastic anyways, and peaking for sure. Light strawberry, mushroom-earth, leather, perfectly resolved and feathery on the palate, but still with enough latent power and finesse to leave a long impression. Nice! — 7 years ago
Great Rose. Sangio with Cran, ML, smooth, light, big color, rich defining fruit. 2013 hint of latent sugar effervesence, but dry. I would pair with pork chops and brown rice. — 8 years ago
Delectable- this is actually the Musigny, not the Les Amoureuses. First of a bracket of 6 Grand Crus from Morey-Saint Denis and Chambolle Musigny. The other 5 as it turns out I Di not photograph and have in put the notes from Searching on Delectable. When done this way the notes for some reason do not feature in my news feed but they do feature on my Tasting Activity. More perfume than Gevrey Chambertin. Plummy intoxicating aromas with cherry. Not giving as much on the palate which has latent power which will be revealed with decades of cellaring. Very good. — 9 years ago
Mid Ruby in Color. Notes of plum and violet. Luscious and savoury at the same time. A generosity of flavour like Otago NZ in some respects. Still a little latent even at 7 years of age. Freycinet Pinots are made to last 10+ years and this will do that easily. Soft and supple - an excellent Pinot Noir - one of Australia's best. — 9 years ago

Slightly tart cherry with latent bubblegum. Like a grown-up rock star version of pigtails, bobby socks, and pink bows. Delish for a Napa Cab. I am either in a real good mood lately, or we have been hitting it out of the ballpark with our wine choices. Vino di Vino. — 10 years ago
2nd wine in the Coonawarra Taste off. Rich and vibrant from a good vintage. Latent power but could be drunk young. Fruit driven. — 10 years ago
Incredible wine; though potential is evident, it also happens to be latent. Wine is temporarily shutdown; I'd leave it be for 3 years — 11 years ago
Deep Ruby in colour with a youthful purple rim. Latent aromas Latent palate. Opened this too early. Hard to agree with Richard Hemming MW’s Drinking Window of 2017-2020. Ripe fruit - Full bodied - Barb thought it was Barossa. Ripe plums and blackfruits with slightly savoury Tannins. Very self contained needing more cellaring time to shine. After a couple of hours and with vigorous swirling came liquorice notes. — 6 years ago
Mid crimson in colour. Initial aromas after decanting of oak and vegetal notes. A little reticent. On the palate just medium weight with M plus Acid. At this age needs food. Probably just at the beginning of its drinking window - latent power, yet to blossom into its best expression. Revealed more on the 2nd night with quite a sweet palate developing. Will leave my 2nd bottle for a few years. A quality Pinot with a good future. — 7 years ago
Mag. Way too early on this beauty but couldn’t resist. As one of my guests put it, “tighter than a [CENSORED DUE TO EXTREMELY BAD TASTE].” Massive latent power, grace and complexity that had only begun to unspool by the last few sips. Not holding my breath on finding another one of these... — 7 years ago
Always going to be the highlight of the Wynns tasting and only made in years where the fruit quality and vintage conditions were exceptional. Sue Hodder said everything fell into place in 2015 and she made one of her best ever Riddochs. From less than 1% of Wynns available Cabernet fruit. Latent power on nose and palate with black fruits and balanced oak. At least a 30 year future but so balanced you could happily drink this now but one should wait at least 10 years for its charms to start showing through. A brilliant 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. — 7 years ago
Great “depth” on the nose promising things to come M+ body and intensity. Sappy and savoury with minerality more than overt red fruits. Latent power and too young to be drinking this in an ideal world. The first of 9 Grand Crus from Gevrey Chambertin tasted blind. — 8 years ago
Full but restrained if that makes sense. Concentrated with much to give - latent power. Lots of spice with rich black and blue fruits and polished tannins. Perfume on the palate - unusual in my experience. My equally top pointed wine in this bracket of 6 at 98 points. — 9 years ago

Subtle pixy candy and red candied fruit on the nose, clean and quaffable mid-palate that shows weight with high water fruit notes, glycerin-edged rich finish with latent and lasting acidity that gives Provençal rosés a run for their money! Low alcohol and lovely. Nielluccio grape is a star in my eyes! — 9 years ago
70% PN, 30% Chardonnay, 2014 disgorgement: lovely golden hues, brioche, biscuit; depth of flavour with latent citrus acidity. — 10 years ago
From Polar’s old Australian Tasting - all tasted blind. I picked this as 2002 of the options offered. This is incredibly latent and showing much younger than 1996. Notes of dark chocolate and blackberry still with firmish Tannins. At least another 5 years in this. — 6 years ago
No. 3 in the Vosne Romanee Grand Cru lineup. My blind tasting notes - “Concentrated Latent and Long. A huge future - amazing potential. I think DRC - La Tache?” The latter assumption proving to be wrong as that was Wine No. 1. Nevertheless the quality of the 2015 Grand Crus from Vosne Romanee are beyond question. Buy as many as you can afford. — 7 years ago
Wine #5 in the MSD Chambolle lineup tasted blind. Like many of these reds a closed nose showing some earthy perfume but the overall message is latent power. Sweet and savoury with Medium + intensity. Another GC from the 2015 vintage with a long future. — 7 years ago
Compact fruit driven nose initially, with oak in balance. Latent power - still needing time to totally unfurl its charms. More new world than Burgundian initially but that changed after a couple of hours in the decanter. A lovely earthy perfume emanating after 3 hours. This wine best to drink after at least 10 years of cellaring with a lengthy decant. I will drink my last one in 3 plus years. — 7 years ago
5th of 6 in this bracket. Subdued nose Latent. Took a few swirls to coax out the nose. Aristocratic once you did. Fine dry Tannins - needs time. de Vogue? My blind tasted notes say. — 8 years ago
Medium to Deep Ruby. Aromas of ripe red and black fruits, coffee with spicy oak. Woody notes. A Shiraz drinkers Pinot! One of the bigger Pinots I have tried and certainly one of the first from South Africa. Latent Power and maybe tasted a little young even at 8 years of age. A joint venture between Burgundian house Bouchard Aine et Fils and Peter Finlayson. Would love to try this in 5 to 10 years. Bought this 1 bottle at a shop in Stellenbosch in SA in 2012 but the wine is from Walker Bay. Enjoyable but unPinot like. One of the 1001 wines. — 9 years ago

So complex with fresh fruit some latent spice big mouth feel and long finish — 9 years ago
Restrained nose of Plum and Prune. Also notes of wet hot bitumen road. Latent brooding power. Experts say drinking window to 2015 but will go on well beyond that IMO. Amazing fruit strength for a cool climate area like Washington State. Full bodied with decadently rich flavours. One of the best new world Cabernets I have had. Up there with Woodlands Moss Wood Dominus Sassacaia amongst others having not tried many of the Californian Cult classics. A birthday treat. — 10 years ago

Apples, light white grapes, some latent peppery spice. Color pale yellow, nose of barrel of apples. — 6 years ago
