Interesting flavors and complexity which will only become better with time - 2015 vintage. Nice spice with amazing peppery nose. Dark blackberry fruit on palette. 40% Vidau (the old field blend) plus 45% Tempranillo and 15% Mazuelo, from a slope in the south of the Monte Yerga called Cuesta la Reina, from a big, 120-hectare plot that has been with the Escudero family for generations. It's fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel with a long maceration, matured in new French (70%) and American oak barrels for 18 months. this is a fun wine that crosses old world and new world. More like a crianza than a reserva. Good for easy drinking with nibbles although im sure it would match bold tomato or meaty flavours nicely too. Do watch out for DO Terras Altas, this is a typically excellent example of some of its wonderful offerings. Available in Spain for less than 6€ and worth that plus nosequé more! — 9 years ago
