On the White Keys White Blend 2014

Golden color, super slow tearing/legs for miles (14.9% alc)! Along with Quintessa's Illumination my favorite Nor Cal Sauv Blanc tasted this year!
Blend of old vine Sauv Blanc and old vine Semillion. New, second use oak and stainless steel fermentation.
Deep and brooding kiwi and gooseberry. Yellow and white flowers, honey, beeswax, melon, bright crushed river rock minerality, yellow apple. Finish lingers for 12+ seconds, amazing body and balance. Amazing for mu body and balances my mood.

Eisacktaler Kerner 2017

Ive never had a Kerner before so I have no point of reference but this wine was striking. My initial impression was hard to describe at first, there is a sharpness to the nose that is reminiscent of smelling CO2 off of a rapid fermentation. It reminded me almost of the sensation of smelling ammonia. Once that fades I'm left with a raspberry smell. As the wine warms it goes into white peaches and kiwi fruit. The acidity is on par with perhaps lower end Riesling but the outright dryness is reminiscent of quality Sancerre. It left me really happy. I don't know why this wine seems such a bastard but I quite like it. — 9 years ago

Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc 2014

This brawny Rutherford SB is much like that kid that joined the marines just for fun. Bronzed pear color. Fat legs coat the glass upon initial swirl. Robust, rich and perhaps almost pine-tinged flavors of lime and kiwi. Bold, with a nice, weighty mouthfeel. Has body and bite. Was very lucky to find this wine indeed. Yellow flowers and a slight honeyed essence from the Semillion with a present minerality. I think zesty is a great adjective for this Rutherford SB — 9 years ago

@Shawn G. Rose : Indeed it does! I'm super picky about SBs, so if I come across, I'll pick it up.

@Shay Aldriedge same here, I'm picky about price point as well. I believe some of the best can be had for under $25.

Killer minerality and a touch of funk, which sets it apart from the run of the mill Kiwi SB. Plenty of ripe tropical fruit, too. — 9 years ago

First Sylvaner I've had, once again the fascist myth of noble varieties vs ignoble varieties (called "blenders") is shown to be bullshit, this wine is complex, dynamic, and singular, sort of like clover honey drizzled over kiwi fruit and green apples. — 10 years ago

The color of this tickles me--a bright, almost neon pink. Nose takes me straight to strawberry-kiwi starburst. Lemon oil and gravelly mineral notes. Palate is juicy, oily, and a bit grippy. — 9 years ago
