@delectable: this Kisi Qvevri 2012 from JSC Corporation Kindzmarauli/Georgia.
This is an orange wine which was fermented in amphoras With skin contact and aged in barrels.
Gold-Brown color, slightly cloudy.
Tastes like a dry sherry. Almost no fruit, quite Salty. Interesting stuff. — 8 years ago
Выдержка в квеври, потом год в дубе. Одно из лучших грузинских, что доводилось пробовать. Мощь, характер, сумасшедшая ароматика. Непохоже на Киси. Цвет - интенсивный, насыщенный янтарный. Best skin-contact Georgian orange I’ve had (available from the local wine shop). Funkier than Dilao. Excellent everyday natural wine.

On the nose, wild dark berries, cherries, grilled meats, loamy dark soils and dark dry soils. The body is leaner for a red wine. Bright, wild dark berries, black raspberries, poached strawberries, grilled meats, soy, black olive pit with flesh, dry red roses, dry, dusty, dark tannins, soft leather, dry stems, coffee grounds, brilliant acidity and a round, lush, bright, drier fruit finish. A steal for $15. Producer notes; the winery is located in the village of Kisiskhevi in Eastern Georgia's Kakheti wine district. It produces wines out of three vineyard sites: Napareuli, Tsinandali, and Kindzmarauli and mostly use native Georgian grape varieties: Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Kisi, and Saperavi. Farming is sustainable in order to maintain biological diversity. Rkatsiteli is ancient variety from rocky vineyards around the village of Napareuli. The grapes are hand-harvested and are pressed and then the juice, grape skins, stalks and pips are poured into a qvevri for further fermentation. It's a large clay vessel. The qvevri is then sealed. Органолептический восторг. Насыщенный янтарный цвет. Очень ароматное, пряное: яблоки, мёд, специи. Характерная терпкость, в послевкусии - сухофрукты, смола. Пробовала почти на бегу в Тбилиси, но очень впечатлило, обязательно вернуться, обязательно попробовать вновь. Очень интересно, что получится с годами, когда танины несколько укротятся. — 8 years ago

This is a really pleasant traditional style orange wine. Floral notes and a mysterious toasted-herbs-de-provence round out this wine. Tannins are a bit rustic, but it works well in this wine. — 10 years ago
