Nice summer rose. Brought back great memories of our summer trip through France and our night in cliffs of les baux — 8 years ago
At Arugula with Ellen and Dominique. Learned: Sancerre is located on the left bank of the Loire River, in the Loire Valley, right in the center of France (some 125 miles from Paris). Overlooking the river, the vineyards of Sancerre are spread over 7200 acres of rolling hills, with perfect conditions for cultivating vines. The same chalk famous in the White Cliffs of Dover runs down through Champagne and Chablis into Sancerre, where it is cut through by a series of small valleys, each with their own microclimate and terroir. The two grape varieties used in Sancerre are Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The white wines are fresh, fruity, and elegant, the roses are delicate and subtle, and the reds are perfumed and smooth.

2009 Cinque Terrre Sciacchetra. 80.15.5 Bosco.Albarola.Vermentino. Passito style from eastern Liguria. Grown in sea mist on jagged cliffs. Rich, viscous, nutty, candied orange peel, dried fig, apricot. Mature, complex, meditative, special, scarce, fun, engaging. From a vanishing culture of less than twenty producers. 500 cases made 15 to SF. — 9 years ago
Great balance. Crunchy tannin with enough fruit to carry — 9 years ago
On the Nose: Citrus, Grapefruit, Lemon Peel & Honey with a Butter / Dairy edge.
On the Palette: Generous body and acidity with huge length. Citrus, Melon and Stone Fruit, finishing with a marmalade undertone.
Last bottle, so sad. Beautiful aged Chardonnay. HB doesn't get the press it deserves for Chard. — 10 years ago
Bordeaux grapes make this a Bordeaux style wine, but the terroir of the Columbia River Valley make this fuller than most Bordeauxs -- lovely wine, indeed! — 10 years ago
A unique salty note, from vines grown on cliffs 500 feet above sea level — 10 years ago

Nose of; dark fresh florals, red roses & violets, spiced plum, raisins, fresh, dry & sour dark cherries, cherries, dry cranberries, boysenberries, a black cherry liqueur quality, warm toast, baked; black berries, blueberries, black tea, limestone and hint of black licorice. The palate is; full, round, ripe, dark and lush. Ripe & slightly sour dark cherries, blackberries, blueberries, plums, dry cranberries, raisins, boysenberries, black cherry liqueur quality, toast, black tea, limestone soil, touch of turned black earth, black tea, underbrush, softest presence of faint baking spices; cinnamon, nutmeg, clove & even fainter vanilla with suede type leather. The finish is well structured & elegance, nice balance of fruit & earth, round & lush with acidity the pours and drips over the palate. Interesting note, their Sonoma vineyard is a place where the North American continent ends abruptly in ragged, vertical cliffs and the San Andreas Fault runs directly or very near the underfoot of vineyard. At the foot of the Solutre and Vergisson cliffs, Pouilly-Fuissé not to be confused with Pouilly Fume, is a wine from the Loire, has become famous throughout the world. Enthusiasts like its elegance and lively, silky texture. The 2012 Vintage: Pale light golden color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits, with a waft of floral. The palate shows ripe apple and peach flavors with citrus notes. This medium-body wine has good balance with a smooth creamy finish, ending with mineral tones. Very Nice! — 8 years ago
My favorite Minervois vignerons deliver a wonderful, spicy, blackberries buffeted by the silence of limestone cliffs & just a hint of oceanic austerity at the clean finish. I always think of the royal purple seashells when I drink this wine... — 9 years ago

Opened for xmas dinner at cliffs. Rec from specs. Very good! — 9 years ago
From Julia: "Lighter but with a lot of substance." Sommelier: "Earthy, like the soil of freshly picked strawberries. From the red sandstone cliffs of the Main valley in Germany." — 10 years ago
Wonderful but $42. Dried cherries and herb flavored, smooth, a little dry, good for 5 year shelf life, goes with cheeses early — 10 years ago

Smoke, earth and an ethereal lightness from the high-altitude, rocky cliffs of the Valle d'Aosta. This is a Nebbiolo to savor. — 11 years ago
Dark sweet cherries, spicy vanilla incense, slightly smoky on the finish. — 7 years ago
Single parcel very old vine field blend, rocky volcanic cliffs overlooking the Atlantic. Black cherries tossed in volcanic ash, white pepper and smoked sea salt. 600ish bottles produced. #nospitting — 8 years ago
NV Pinot Noir, and I can't remember when I purchased it...4ry ago? So this is 2010, 2011 fruit. My wife and I got married at this winery. It's on the cliffs in Mendocino. The wines vary radically. This is really good and now with a touch of age a little old world in profile. Dusty cranberry and imminently drinkable — 8 years ago
The colour of golden saffron suspended in lightly heated cane-sugar water; a nose of candied blood-orange rind, apricot blossoms, dehydrated sweet white onions, German asparagus sautéed in unsalted butter, and sweaty dandelions; a gloriously ambivalent palette - it shuttles back and forth between a frantically ebullient acidity and a warming fur coat of alcohol and sweetness, with just a hint of sea salt at the very end. An amazing wine. Like drinking in large and perfectly sculpted waves crashing over craggy and desolate cliffs, whilst watching an enduring and fathomless sunset. — 9 years ago
This is really tasty. Fruity. — 9 years ago
Customer brought this in and was nice enough to let me taste this super elegant Nebbiolo from Oregon. Earthy and ripe red berries in the nose. A guzzler of a wine for me — 9 years ago
