This bottle was opened several hours prior to dinner. The 2001 Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe Morello cherry, red flowers, leather, black tea, and a lovely mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, slightly savory and super complex. A textbook Brunello Riserva that leans on the more elegant side of the spectrum. A fabulous pairing with lombo di agnello. Drink now with patience through 2041. — 5 months ago

The nose shows classic BdM aromas of dried cherry, rose petal, steeped black tea, tobacco, and a whisper of balsamic. Yet on the palate its tart acidity overwhelmed, and the nimble structure is more inline with CC than a BdM.

On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. The Il Marroneto only gained power with time. Looking back on my notes, the last time I had the 2001 Classico was nearly ten years ago (and I had enjoyed it a few times before that). Since then, I’ve learned a lot about the aging arc of Sangiovese and those experiences were just entering the early drinking window for the 2001 Il Marroneto. This is where I really like them. Actually had this several days ago and both iPhone app and desktop Delectable has not been working for nearly a week and suddenly came to life this morning - most odd. Maturing very nicely at 8 years
Deep ruby colour and nose of berry fruits and spices.
On palate tannins and alcohol are well balanced and integrated,

2020 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 15 mins and 2 hours. Medium/medium-heavy body (as usual) first sampling. Meaty (but not beefy) with dark plum as backup/the club bouncer. Slightly chunky but eminently drinkable. Ff two hours and the body thinned out slightly with the club bouncer’s shift over. Dark plum gonzo and cola + Luxardo cherry now driving the party bus. Not quite as structured as the massive 2019 or as precious as the 2018. This is in a great spot now, if you must, and should be an absolute delight in 5-10 years. 3.6.25. — 3 months ago

The delicious, smoothly textured, 2021 Justin Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles) is intensely colored, nicely balanced, and well structured; medium>full, with an abundance of aromatic and flavorsome black fruits (Bing cherry, blackberry); refined with barrel aging notes (spice, vanilla, toast); and framed with medium acidity and smooth tannins at the mouth cleansing finish.
