A crunchy, maple soaked blackberry, alongside secondary notes of hoisin sauce and cherry tobacco on the nose. Gorgeous mid-palate. So smooth and integrated. Palate is full of ripe, fresh squeezed blackberries, little bit of tar, pipe tobacco and and finish that brings about some red tart fruit. Really nice wine @Keith Fisher . — 7 years ago
Drinking with ken ixhida. Powerful, will get better, but opened up well. — 7 years ago
On the nose; ruby, glowing, ripe, slightly candied fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, blue fruits and black raspberries. Soft minerals if you can call them that, caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, whiff of black licorice and perfumed, red florals & roses. The beauty and quality of the fruits turn the eyes up. Bright and a sense dull at the same time. The body is full and beautiful. Tannins nicely round and soft for a 13. Its extremely silky & elegant. Fruits of; blackberries, blue fruits, plum, dark cherries, creamy raspberries, black raspberries, black plum and strawberries paint the background. Fruits are a touch gummy. Vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate, anise, mocha, soft leather, wood shavings, fine crushed rock powder & fine chalky minerals. Acidity near perfect. The structure, balance & length are well executed harmony. The finish is beautiful, well polished and lasts two minutes. Excellent pairing of Guinness Braised Beef Short Ribs, Horseradish Mashed Potatoes & Haricots Verts from Davis Estate Chef Mark Caldwell and featured in the middle left photo. Other photos of; the vines above the Estate, lobby and the vines/view from the Estate terrace. — 7 years ago
Bright, fresh, delish. — 8 years ago
Last on our tasting flight. Beautiful purpley red color. Sweet and tobacco on the nose. Lots of spice and tannins at the finish. So, so good. — 9 years ago
This is drinking extremely well after just a pop and pour. You can see on the side of the bottle that it’s thrown a ton of sediment. Still easily in the drinking window. Underrated winery. — 7 years ago
Rose signals the start of summer and there are many great ones to chose from. The Syrah Rose from Caldwell is something special. It is deeper in color and richer in flavor than most. The best way to explain it is, it has more umph. I could drink this all summer long. — 7 years ago
"Come to the orchard in Spring.
There is light and wine, and sweethearts
in the pomegranate flowers.
If you do not come, these do not matter.
If you do come, these do not matter"

Good Zin. Purchased at Grocery Outlet in Caldwell. 3-18-17 — 8 years ago
This is magical...
Expansive nose of sweet tobacco, soy sauce and a hint of cloves.
On the palette, it's plush and expansive. Fleshy black fruits lead into a big tannic structure, which we love. The wine has a long tail, which finishes sweet, with a kiss of acidity. This needs a little more time in the bottle, but it's already very classy.
Thanks to @Eric Shanks who gifted us this glorious example. Happy new year to you and yours, mate. — 8 years ago
Smooth! Great flavor ! & at 14.9% alcohol , gets you there fast — 9 years ago
So much more sweet fruited on the nose than the Caldwell. Partially due to age. Little bit of toasted oak with blackberries and cassis on the nose. Licorice, ripe raspberries and clove on the finish. Very Farella-like, as it should be. Years ahead of it. Nice pull @Mark Flesher . — 7 years ago
2011 vintage holy crap amazing - paired with our fav Spanish food from Xunta Caldwell AWESOME!! — 7 years ago
Love this Malbec. — 7 years ago
Amazing. An epiphany. Menthol, lavender, red and purple fruits. Fragrant and elegant, but with a core of new world fruit. Resolved sweet tannins. Long finish. Spectacular — 7 years ago
Surprise blockbuster WOTN. Layers of rich silky fruit, spice box, cherry tobacco. This winery was one of the first to get me engaged with wine in the mid 90's. The old crimson basic label still holds a special place with me. This brought some wine epiphany memories rushing back. I had forgotten this old friend a little but the reunion was sweet. The new somm at Addison was effusive. Respect. — 8 years ago
Wow! This is a bold beautiful wine after a decade. Loved it. — 9 years ago
