Money. Killer. Rad. Channeling my inner @Philip Carpenter who also totally loves these wines. Jaffurs is the poster child of consistency in winemaking, and Verna's is always a powerful tapestry. Super opaque, almost black purple, very ripe/rich black &blue fruits, some lavender, and roasted meats. Pedal to the metal, jump on board and enjoy the ride (now channeling my inner @Bill Bender!). — 7 years ago
Delicious wine. Benefits greatly from decanting. Firm pleasurable tannins. This wine is a keeper and in 3-4 years will be amazing. Rating the wine where it is now. Will buy more bottles to lay down.👍🏼 — 8 years ago
A special treat, former Presidio vineyard just outside of Sta Rita Hills. — 8 years ago
Jaffurs Wine Cellars was founded by Craig Jaffurs, known for his Rhone blends, and released his first commercial wine in 1994. Craig turned the business over to Dan and Janelle Green in 2016. About 40% of the wine was aged for 6 months in neutral oak and the rest in stainless steel, which keeps the wine fresh. Aromas of tropical fruits and elegant floral notes. On the palate layered flavors of peach, apricot and honey with refreshing acid balance. Nice mouthfeel, medium length, ending with refreshing fruit. Very nice! Tasting Sample! — 5 years ago
Excellent, perfect timing — 8 years ago
Prominent oak, but light tannin. Not bad, but outclassed by the Jaffurs from the same vintage that it was served after. — 8 years ago
This 100% Roussanne has aged to perfection. Pleasing, full bodied creamy goodness compliments the lively acidity in perfect balance. — 9 years ago
2001! We weren't sure how it would have held up but, as usual, Jaffurs doesn't disappoint. Amazing! — 9 years ago

The best Thompson Vineyard Syrah I've had — 8 years ago
Hell yes you can taste the cold weather in this Cali juice. Very rare to truly experience the concentration of these Santa Barbara syrahs with a sense of any less than the beating sun. This is opposite. I taste elevation and wind. Dark fruit with absent attack. Interesting. Still lacking the complexity and any sign of minerals in that of rhone Syrah though. Signaling my palette's departure from typical Cali wines 👋🏼 — 8 years ago
You can feel the space that used to be filled with fruit, which for me is a good thing. More open room for this to spread out into and reveal the floral, herbal and honeyed notes that were formerly steamrolled over. A touch of oxidation starting to creep in, but for now that's a welcome addition to the whole. — 9 years ago
Purposely taken with a Jaffurs glass. The salesman at Oxford Wine Co. said this is the closest we'd get to Condrieu in the £17/bottle range. This made me zoom back to Santa Barbara after one sniff. Everything Craig Jaffurs talked about snapped into place like a puzzle. Licorice, chive, pepper, honeysuckle and other white flowers. Some orange marmalade on nose and palate...completely consistent. Med+ bodied, silky smooth...heavenly. Speaking of Heaven, Morgan, this is your dear friend, correct? — 10 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Light Ruby, about 1/3 whole clusters were used and aged in French oak, 65% neutral and 35% new. Aromas of berry fruits with floral spice. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry, light in style, with notes of tea, well balanced with acidity. Soft velvety tannins, medium length, ending with an earthy mineral tang. Very nice!
