Very expressive wine at this modest price. Unmistakable Dolomite character with lots of smoky, gamey components. Violets, wild blackberry, plum, peppercorn, savory dried herbs, cedar, licorice and a subtle umami inflection that is very suggestive of cured meat. Enough acidity to remain bright and lifted, and surprisingly soft tannins after just a quick splash in the decanter. This bottle may have been ever so slightly volatile but I would have a difficult time stating that definitively. Great wine for pairing with wild game- boar, venison, and the like. — 7 years ago
That's right, I'm drinking Pinot Noir on a Saturday night!! If there is a Pinot made just for me this might be it! Now I know why we bought this on our honeymoon! Great nose, just the right amount of fruit, and hints of spice but still very easy to drink. I get cherries & creme brûlée! May be an inflection point for my hatred of Pinot!:) — 9 years ago
I’m equally proud and embarrassed for how cheap I found this on clearance - about $8. To be fair, Pegau is a very well respected CDP. I think this sees a discount in the portfolio because it’s built from multiple vintages. How many multi vintage reds do we see?
Deep dark rounded corners. Lush dark berries, cedar, and pencil with sprinkled salt and minerals with tannic inflection. I’ll take this again if I find it. — 6 years ago
This bottle was lit. Just at the inflection from extracted to resolved, the complex aromatics foretold an even more delightful rainbow of black tea, bacon fat, dark cassis and tapenade. Buttery smooth. Oaky tannins to take this baby another 10+ years easy. — 6 years ago
Seasons 52. Crisp, medium bodied, nice Cab. — 7 years ago
Lovely Merlot inflection. Dual pitches find harmony mid palate and lengthen wine into 10 second range. Excellent balance at a young age. — 9 years ago
Note that there are two listings for this wine. The winery only produces a single wine.
This was spectacular on this night. Paired w chicken, prawn and clam pallea w summer vegetables.
Dark purple color. Intense nose of currant, blackberry, black cherry, toasty wood, vanilla, brown spices and a distinct savory, soil inflection. Energetic on the palate, in a resonant/mineral way. Finishes equal parts rich and fresh in a way that invites additional sips. — 6 years ago
Love this. A little grip, so much refreshing acid, cherries, medicine, earth, flowers. Like Etna-inflection Cru Bojo from Catalunya. Delicious. — 6 years ago
Pristine and brilliant. Still tastes young and precise with the hazelnut-inflection of age. Fantastic. — 7 years ago
You haven’t really lived until you’ve tasted Russell Bevan’s wine. His 2014 Ontogeny had me exclaiming “OH.... Daaaaayuuuum....” after my first sniff, and then again after each of the subsequent eight or ten sips with various and usually increasing changes in inflection. Blackberry compote drenched in crème de cassis accented with smoked brisket and white flowers. Tertiary notes of lavender, leather, a faint tinge of brett, and a little magic marker provide an exotic backdrop for a wine that exudes its own Napa style. — 7 years ago
Impressive length, even from the first. Closed nose suggesting only savory notes. Intense attack of juniper berry, incense and fraise du bois. Earthy mid palate of thyme and baking spice offers platform for bright inflection on the finish. Lingering limestone overshadows tannin. Oh and it tastes pretty good too. — 9 years ago
Deep ruby colour with a pure, blue-fruited, violet perfume intertwined with crushed granite mineral notes and a slight dried-herb inflection. Ample tannin, though very fine. Plenty of the aforementioned fruit on the palate and some lovely, fresh acidity. — 10 years ago

Love the inflection between toast and freshness on the nose. Aromas of almond slivers, bruised apple, hazelnut, gravel, honey, and perfumed lilacs. Palate is laser sharp, with acid driven orchard fruit. Great purity. Mid palate rounds out the mouthfeel - so creamy and soft. Mousse is fine and rich. Finish lingers with layers of green apple evolving to brioche and mascarpone. Find this and buy it! (Celebrating a new job tonight!!) — 5 years ago
