Well made, balanced, fruit forward, good structure, nice finish. — 8 years ago
Crimson in color with the slightest bit of orange. Opened up over 3-4 hours, still has room to cellar. Rustic nose: herbal notes, bloodorange, cherry, but not overly aerobatic. On the palate, is more viscous than expected, with red fruit. Tannins are there, but acidity is just as prevalent. Much better when pair with pasta. (My first Nebbiolo from this region, tasted while in Varenna). — 9 years ago
No way, one of my Desert Island picks - a couple of barrels at the very least - with Dante's Inferno, Nabokov's Opus and Bach's Goldberg Variations 😍 — 10 years ago

Very bubbly, great taste with the bubbles. — 11 years ago
2009 vintage. Dark dusty nose. Hearty strong. Tannins grip. Intense red black fruit. Dryness overwhelms but in a good way. $35.99 — 12 years ago
Surprising quality/price ratio (less than 10 Euros) for this Valtellina's nebbiolo coming from the "Inferno" subregion — 12 years ago
‘Inferno’ he only made in a few vintages. A stinky dark nose with tar and roses. Lovely depth and gnarly fruit but great acidity- blind there was an almost Brunel love-like intensity to the fruit. Both intense and pretty. Really classy and very vital. Great — 8 years ago
Puts up a good fight with Apothic Inferno...not as flavorful and strong though, but nice barrel finish — 9 years ago

Abboccato , sentore di ciliegie mature alcool misurato , lascia la lingua e il palato vellutati — 12 years ago
Inferno showing deeper, richer, smokier tobacco notes. While Sassella showing the more tea like herbal, orange, amaro , chocolate notes — 8 years ago
50 + year old vines....Mmmmm spicy smoked oak campfire bacon goodness. I tired this last night and already bought more. Great wine to go with red meat or BBQ, very drinkable wine. If you like smoked flavors, look no more. Reminds me of apothic inferno. — 9 years ago
Light to medium bodied. Rich and complex -- very earthy wine plus some raspberry and cherry and some almost tar/smoke. And roses. Also the smell of good quality, cloudy honey. Very interesting. Tannins are soft after 11 years, but still there. Medium finish. — 10 years ago
Shared this at a wedding , so while I may have been predisposed to enjoy it, I also know, that even in the relentless flames of the inferno, this wine would be deeply delicious ;-) — 11 years ago
The back of the bottle is 100% right...black raspberry nose, rich tannin palate, & dark chocolate finish — 12 years ago

A little reminiscent of Apothic Inferno (which is a good thing) — 8 years ago
