Has Vermentino fallen out of favour with Italians and is being replaced by a taste for Chardonnay?
Maybe but I don't want to believe it yet.
On hot summer days there is not much more refreshing than a well chilled glass of Vermentino. Chilled is a must - it still has enough oomph in the nose to release its floral essence. Once it comes up to room temp it can be overwhelmingly perfumey IMHO. Good acid balance.
I'm pretty convinced that you can trust anything from Fontori to be a solid choice. — 9 months ago

Any wine that can shine from a plastic cup deserves extra kudos. Mistook for a Northern nebbiolo with its structure, detail, & balance, but the fruit is pure southern, pomegranate & black currants. Eye opener (esp for 30$ list). Want to re taste in proper stemware. I think 80% nero di trioa 20% montulpiciano — 10 years ago
Very good rosé - light in color full in flavor. — 11 years ago

The winery’s entry level Sangiovese bottling. Aged 15 months in second-use French oak for 2020 vintage, it delivers a darker-fruited profile while preserving Sangiovese’s classic character. A versatile, crowd-pleasing choice and pairs especially well Northern Italian pasta dishes. — 10 months ago
Fruity, bubbly/fuzzy, sweet. Always have it in hand — 4 years ago

2001, Madonna delle Grazie Il Marroneto Sangiovese. A Brunello with 14 years of aging, doesn't get much better. Still has primary black fruit but layers of secondary flavors. It continues to open up and get more complex through the evening. — 11 years ago
Almost as good as the chianti in Paris — 13 years ago
2014 is a notoriously difficult vintage in Tuscany, but this showcases the finesses achievable in a challenging season.
The nose shows fresh cherry, red currant, pinecone, violet, and touch of leather and baking spices. Medium-to-full body on the leaner side, the plate is marked by vibrant acidity and refined silky tannins. Hint of sweetness on the long finish.

Awesome. Leather, mineral. — a year ago
medium body, with nice warmth. would like it a little heartier, but it's good. pairs well with steak, becomes ruby red in flavor — 7 years ago
— 8 years ago
One of my favorite roses from the summer. Nice salmon color. Nice rounded taste. Prefer the bolder red grape roses. This paired really well with arugula/peach salad and pork chop. — 10 years ago

A bit too much cassis flavours for my palate which I do not recall when I had my first bottle about a year ago. Nevertheless a very good wine — 8 months ago
