Having purchased several bottles, I wanted to give this a test run. Let it decant for two hours and indeed, she rewarded me. A huge nose of dried red flowers, violets, cranberry, cherry, a hint of earth and tar. Drinking fairly well now but she needs to lay for a few years to fully reward you. Popped and poured; consumed over three hours. Tremendous Cerretta. Looks like ox blood in the glass...incredible visual with zero signs of age. Intoxicating aromas of kirsch, pie crust, tar, fresh roses, and tiramisu. On the palate it was all kirsch and sous bois supported by a mountain of tannins still, 12 years in. Beautiful acidity and the finish sits with you for well over half a minute. It was still going strong by the time we reached the bottom of the bottle. This wine will last for decades to come and I have expectations for it to start showing its best closer to 2025. Drink with patience or hold. — 9 years ago

Woah!! Hold up. Briny, sweaty, leesy, metallic, concrete laden, pure grape juice. I have to apologize to the Bay Area for drinking 50% of the only sample bottle I got of this lovely Trebbiano. Zero additive, niente chimica, senza solfiti, funky, natty, super delicious wine -day three showing strong- no VA no EA, same oxidative nose as when it was uncorked, which was fresh as lemon rainwater on hot concrete. I want to drink much more from this producer, and I am not biased, even though I am fortunate enough to sell it in Cali! The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is out of this world, truly one of the most unique I've ever tasted. If you see it, don't hesitate to expand your mind and liver on it. — 10 years ago

2014 vintage, imbibed Aug/2019. Needed decanting ... very closed at first, practically no nose at all. Began to open up after a half hour to 45 minutes. Eventually - good fruit, big body, but tannins well controlled. I had my doubts at first, but ended up really enjoying with a hearty beef dinner. — 6 years ago

Probably because I drink too much Etna and am a little spoiled, but this 2015 from the south east Slopes needs a couple of more years to get some tertiary volcanic flavors. Great floral notes and light cherry, but not a lot of persistent. — 8 years ago

Got this in Bayer wine cellar for 27€. Nose of beautiful terroir, dried fruits, berries, gentle touch of minerals. Fine body, not over dry, soft tannins finish. I rate this high for quality and price. Wish to find this in US. — 9 years ago

The best sip was the first where it had incredible complexity. Over time it got bigger but I feel like it hid the crazy complexity a bit. What was left was a more savory style of Barolo with beautiful fruit also. Obviously a 2010 Barolo is a baby. Can't wait for ten years from now besides that I'll be 50. Actually I take that all back. Ten years from now will suck and this wine may be one of the only good things. — 10 years ago

I've seen bad reviews from people on this wine but I quite enjoyed it. Slight skin contact and time in barrel. There version of a white burgundy is what Ciro said. I work mainly with Italian wine and for me this was quite separate from the rest of Italy in a really good way. I felt the wine to be unique and complex and highly recommend it. — 11 years ago
