Killer qpr!
Slightly funky on the nose, animalistic something, reminds me of Domaine de'l Horizon, only with more acidity, which I like and which makes it a better soloist. Also worked well with Parmigiana di Melanzane. — 10 years ago
Dark plum, roots and botanicals, rosemary, touch of strawberry compote among the luminaries glistening on the olfactory horizon. Really spectral, chewy, and all over the universe in terms of complexities. But ultimately balanced, svelte, sophisticated and worth the money plus some. Sexy for Cab Franc. Really one of the better expressions of the varietal. This lady is the whole package. — 10 years ago

Here's an interesting white wine from Hungary. Hárslevelű is a varietal usually used to blend in sweet Tokaj, but in the little known wine region of Somloi they make a single varietal dry wine.
A deep gold color. The tasting notes say elderflower on the nose, I got lemon and honey. A lot of crisp apple on the palate with some sweet spice anchored by a flinty, wet stone minerality that really all comes together on the surprisingly long finish. Very well balanced. Somehow refined and rustic at the same time.
Our server said that Hungarian wines are "the new big thing" right now. I can't find any evidence to support this bold claim, but this is Los Angeles and I guess you need to say things like that.
This was definitely a memorable wine that stuck with me since I drank it three days ago. Paired beautifully with a lamb belly salad and salted cod over polenta. So who knows, maybe a Hungarian wine moment is on the horizon after all. — 10 years ago
Great varietal clarity on offer in this very reasonably priced Tassie ripper. Lots of cherries and a nice smoky earth. Big fan! — 10 years ago
Why are you still drinking chardonnay???

The essence of ripe cherries and strawberries invade every nook and cranny of this wine. Extremely silky and smooth in the mouth which produces a finish that reminded me of the horizon when you are looking out from the deck of a boat, just does not quit. — 10 years ago

Great balance between the yeasty, nutty aromas and apple, mineral notes. Super fine bubbles, creamy texture followed by a precise acidity that cleans everything up perfectly. Thinking I'll need a magnum of this for New Years... — 10 years ago
