Always love these reds by HF. Whites are truly lightning rods but the reds are just as nuanced with laser beam acids. Clear, very pale almost water like. Very shy nose with withdrawn aromas of pomelo, grapefruit, white stone fruit, lemon zest and a strange, fresh goat cheese component which disturbs this clean & fresh picture of the nose a bit. On the palate this Kabinett shows an incredible tension, freshness and wonderful (high), vibrant, balanced acidity. The wine acts on a very dry level. Its an perfect Aperitif. Unbelievable salty finish.
There is quite a little hype in the German wine scene about these wines and already after one bottle I´m a fan too. Very focused, quite and drinkable stuff. Not a "in your face" wine. Elegance is the key-word here. — 9 years ago
