Very pleasant Sauvignon Blanc, light and dry and not grassy like typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs — 6 years ago
A Kiwi SB with a citric punch, this excellent white has a floral nose, lemongrass and lime flavors up front, leading into a palate cleansing lemon zest finish. It went well with blackened tilapia and steamed green beans. — 8 years ago
Great balance of fruit and oak. Very complex with stunning stone fruits and great minerality fantastic length and poise. — 9 years ago
Lovely mix of fruit and spice. A nice mouthfeel and sculpted tannin structure. Full bodied enough to enjoy with New Zealand lamb! — 9 years ago
This has one of those brilliant, well polished high def née world wine noses.
Subtle fruit, yet so perfect the aroma.
A touch of salinity leads to classic Cab fruit, that hint of almond, those delicately placed petals on the palette, persimmon in the end game, with minty acidity and well focused tannin.
I’d say this wine has come together perfectly with time. — 4 years ago
Elegant new world Chardonnay made in one of the best NZ wine region of Hawkes bay. Slightly oaked that brings the vanilla out along with a butter popcorn balanced with citrusy grapefruit notes. One interesting note: hints of daiginjo sake on the nose; perhaps it’s the white flower or lychees aromas. Nice new world white. — 6 years ago
Day one of shoot a wrap. Woo hoo. Celebration with agency. Amazing day. — 7 years ago
Nose of peppercorns savoury spices and minerals Medium weight with plummy minerality coming through on the palate. Hawkes Bay NZ Syrah has always been a favourite of mine starting with Te Mata's Bull Nose Syrah 10 years ago. This Salo is made by leading Aussie winemaker Steve Flamsteed of Giant Steps in the Yarra Valley Tasted again 36 weeks later. Lacked a little mid palate fruit when compared to the Mt Langhi Cliff Edge which was a similar cool climate peppery Shiraz. I preferred the Langhi. — 8 years ago
Citrus, pineapple, green apple & melon, tropicals with white & yellow florals on the nose. Nice round texture, good chalkiness & soft minerals, wet stones, guava, pineapple, green apple, underripe melon, white peach, nectarine with nice delicate spice on the long finish. — 9 years ago
Sept 17, 2015. "Lost in Helsinki" Great atmosphere, nice wine! Just arrived Finland from US. Nice light bodied NZ Pinot. Smoky, nice tannins, smooth finish. — 9 years ago
Light crisp fruity — 5 years ago
Others say it’s oaky... I get a little but not in an off-putting way. For the $, this is incredibly solid. Perfect for Thanksgiving or any white meat bird. — 7 years ago
Always good to have a taste of home, and very little does that better than Gimblett Gravels Syrah. Great dark fruit, showing excellent leathery tones. — 8 years ago
Nose of ripe; blackberries, blueberries, black plum, black raspberries, dark cherries, white & black pepper, soft, chalky minerals with light & dark fresh florals. On the palate, lean; blueberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, cherries, black licorice, soft baking spices; clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, powdery crushed rocks, leather, dry & fresh dark florals with understated white & black pepper. Photos of parts of the soil structure in the Gimblett Gravels and vines around their Cellar Door. — 9 years ago
Solid Old School New School!
This has oak. Oh yeah, definitely oak, but in a good way. With lemon and flint a nice malolactic mouthfeel. This is the perfect wine for those that like old school Chardonnay and need to take a wine to someone's house or someone who doesn't like old school but needs to bring a bottle to an old school lover's house. I need more of this. What a great wine day. BOOM!! — 9 years ago
The color is a light and pretty red that one can easily read through. Nose is red berries, cinnamon, and the red apple skins common in Oregon Pinot Noir. Palate texture is buoyant with purple candies, and cold red fruits that appear to be laced with sea salt. Acid is obvious but balanced. Finish is about 2 minutes of salinity. This wine tastes like a purple oyster. Retail: approx $25 — 9 years ago
