The beauty of great producers in great regions is how the wines wear the vintages & tell the story of that place & time. 2014's story & soul lie transparently in the texture. High toned, fresh red fruit with an acidic core which seems to brighten the wine as it breathes. The aromatics are never far from the palate here, as that is where the power lies. Undeniable floral & strawberry perfume overtake the senses as the glass is raised. Call me crazy, but this was a star alongside chicken Marsala. White in the sauce, red in the glass. — 10 years ago

The last couple of bottles have been a bit off but not this one... a mature champagne but the acidity was in perfect harmony.. honey and lemons — 11 years ago
Pours garnet in color. Cola in the aroma along with berries. Flavors include cola, a hint of baking spice and dark berry with some meatiness. Full bodied with a medium to long finish. — 11 years ago

Nose of dark cassis, dry florals and coffee grounds. Ripe fruits that finish dry. Blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, strawberries paint the background, black tea, coffee grounds, fresh leather, dry stems, moist black earth, dry stone, some black licorice, black cherry cola, bright acidity, nice polish on the finish. This Montrose is well made. The structure, balance, length, tension, depth are in real harmony. Just needs 15 more years to be magical. — 10 years ago

1987 Noel verset cornas... What An amazing wine. This wine has soul and it was very special to open and share with friends. Still intact and showing wonderful bricking with fruit that was youthful with green tea notes and figs underpinned with olive tempenade and briary fruit...RIP Noel. — 10 years ago

Сушеные яблоки, кизил, сушеная малина, изюм и замша. Во вкусе много сухофруктов и сладких пряностей. Богато, узнаваемо.

Super interesting co-fermented blend of 45% Petite Sirah, 45% Roussanne, 6% Grenache and 4% Syrah.
Deep and dark purplish red. Layered nose with tons of dark chocolate floating out of the glass. Layers of dark berries, black pepper, white pepper, purple floral notes, spices and herbs. Got a bit more savory and gamey as it opened up. Moderate tannins (6.6/10) and medium plus body. Kept getting fuller as it breathed. Big and juicy with dark cocoa, tight dark berries, bramble, dark spices, a touch of heat and anise in the finish. Long and lingering finish. Quite heavy and needs some time to fully integrate. Great wine. Drink from 2019 till 2026.
