Aged (2000) New York State Chardonnay. Funky smell and initial taste, buttery finish and deep golden color in the glass. — 10 years ago
Bottom half of cork was soft. Color was clear dark golden. White flowers, honeysuckle, some cider that evaporated leaving well integrated, delicious stuff. Fun to drink aged whites. Even more fun to drink them with @Colin Nuckolls — 10 years ago
Haystack, golden apple, brown pear, salted caramel, butterscotch, sweet almonds, custard, honeysuckle. Excellent acidity, oily texture, full bodied, long cider/herbal finish. — 11 years ago
The 1955. Sixty years ago a lot of things were different in the golden state. "Burgundy" was "a blend of Gamay and other fine grapes". This half bottle made it, and still had allure and pleasure if only on a thin, frail frame. It was much improved from hours of decanter time. — 11 years ago
Awesome dark red fruit flavors - smooth finish and a great pallete. Full bodied and simply spectacular....name of a great movie with Harrison Ford...and also a great wine from the the Golden State...cheers! — 11 years ago
Funky nose, golden apple taste. — 8 years ago
Meyer lemon marmalade, tangerine pastille, canned peaches, golden apple cider, brioche, gingerbread, fresh mint. Age does wonders on this wine. — 9 years ago
Buttered brioche toast on the nose. A rich golden color. Apricot and crisp apple cider on the palate. Really good. — 9 years ago
This bottle of 06 SC is different than my last. It starts with brioche, almond croissant w/powdered sugar, golden & green apple, apple cider, apple sauce, bruised pear, toffee, overripe pineapple, citrus, citrus blossoms, honey, nuts with skin and cream soda/ginger & butterscotch candy on the long open/finish. The acidity is just right. There is length, balance and a long polished finish. Mmmmmm!!!! At $60, this surpasses Krug cuvée and competes with other vintage Krug's I've had. — 10 years ago

What a wonderful expression of chardonnay from our golden state. Especially with 2 lobsters per person:) — 11 years ago
Caution: Some of these are super carbonated so watch where you point that bad boy when you twist off the wire. Consequently it's the most effervescent cider/poire I've ever experienced, nearly the same effect of putting mento's and coke in your mouth. Hazy golden color with a nice layer of lees sediment. The french farmhouse funk is as lovely as ever with alot of very obvious acetic acid on both the nose as well as palate. Semi-dry, appreciatively fresh with a nice long back end to round things out. She's a beaut :) — 11 years ago
Le Due Terre 2011 Sacrisassi
Fruity Colli Orientali DOC Bianco
Sticky briliant deep golden yellow color. I found crystal of tartaric acid.
I could enjoy gorgeous first scents of a rum raisin, rich barrel, a pineapple, ripe banana, honey, syrup, apple and orange. Then nuance of minerals, cider, or carbonic acid, and hint of a flint and sulfurous flavor made it rich and very complex.
It started with less sweetness and crispy rich acid. Salty or minerals made after taste hard and rich.
Was it a little early to drink?

Peachy apple cider vibes, with sprinkles of cardamon and vanilla - all topped off with the lightest dusting of Maldon . Succulent with great acidity. Cute little floaties hanging out in cloudy golden hues. Will last your whole meal start to finish. A refresher on a muggy day. — 9 years ago
Contributing to a day led by Clos de laTech Pinot Noir intros, this 2012 Brunello made their grape varietal brethren proud. This is neither Barolo nor Amarone, as myriad participants cannot approach the Golden State Warriors. Still, this offering has much to be proud of. — 9 years ago
The CH style is slightly oxidative. Golden & green apples, apple cider/sauce, bruised pear, overripe pineapple, citrus (lemon chiffon), nuts w/skin, yellow florals, quince w/custard, vanilla cream soda, English biscuits, near perfect chalkiness, really nice acidity and a long, round, rich apple driven finish, Love 375's. If you like this style, the CH Brut Reserve is a pleasurable QPR. — 10 years ago
Crisp, dry, and refreshing. Love it! — 10 years ago
Full of golden apple flavors and creamy mouthfeel with a bit of malolactic butter to the finish, this Chardonnay is a superb food wine, pairing nicely with everything from turkey dinner to spicy Indian food. — 10 years ago
Figs, apple cider, golden raisins, cinnamon, honey, caramelized pecans, saline. Low acidity, rich oily texture, sweet dried apricot finish. Dessert wine made from late harvested Grillo, Catarratto, and Inzolia. Best served slightly chilled. — 11 years ago
Fresh mineral (!), green pepper, cassis and lead on the nose, bit of smoke from wood and sap to the fruit - but otherwise more bordeaux than many bordeaux in 2010! Nice cigar note, plenty fresh on palate, again a dash sappy, medium length and full weight. Very lively for napa, no alcohol or wood on finish, excellent for a cali cab but still doesn't quite have $100 concentration in my books. Nevertheless, one of my favorites from the golden state... 2010 vintage. — 11 years ago
Apple cider, calvados, honey, marcona almonds, quince, biscotti, saline. Highly aromatic, beautiful golden color. Great acidity, rich texture, long honey comb off dry finish. — 11 years ago
So much going on. Golden yellow hue, carmelized brandied pear and roasted chestnut nose, followed by an apple cider, honeyed floral taste. Thankfully, some bright acidity puts a smile on my face. — 12 years ago

On the nose; macerated lemon & golden apple, just a whiff of apple cider, overripe pineapple, lemon custard, the citrus flesh in marmalade, lime pith with some flesh, sea spray, chalkiness, yeast, yellow lilies, citrus blooms and white spring flowers.
The body is full & rich. Acidity is sharpe & crisp. Macerated lemon & golden apple, just a whiff of apple cider, a little bit of sour green apple, overripe pineapple, lemon custard, the citrus flesh in marmalade, lime pith with some flesh, sea shells, chalkiness, round grey volcanic minerals, yeasty, doughy, bread, yellow lilies, citrus blooms and white spring flowers. The long finish is rich and is excellently executed.
