Glenmorangie

Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky

A gift from Leif Hammarstrom from quite a few years ago, one of my favorite offerings from Glenmorangie. A stronger sherry character to the nose than I typically find for Glenmorangie, this is an interesting single malt. Doesn’t measure up to my ATF Glenfarclas...but it’s pretty damn good! — 8 years ago

Port Wood 21 Years Malt

Awesome. Doesn't come close to the Glenfarclas 40...but it's still terrific. A sherry-like nose with hints of smoke, this is incredibly smooth with layer upon layer of flavor evolving through the finish. Awesome. — 8 years ago

Glenfarclas

Aged 15 Years Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Nice entry-level single malt from my favorite distillery, Glenfarclas. I actually like this a bit better than the 25 (which is weird, I know: I think that's more a function of the particular incarnation of the 25 I currently have). Terrible at identifying aromas in scotch, but there's a great smokiness coupled with a subtle nutty character along with a hint of vanilla. A little astringent - should probably be cut with a few drops of water - but otherwise a terrific scotch for the money. — 8 years ago

Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 1972

Not quite what delectable says--this is quarter cask, pretty hard to find here at least in Scotland--matured in quarter sized barrels to increase surface area exposure--out of this world--I thought the millennium release was incredible, this has it beat--honey, malt, rounded, dry sherry exceptional finish — 8 years ago

Hints of khalua on the nose and coffee on palate, spice on the end, and the middle is long pure Glenfarclas sherry character.

Sherry notes. Very complex. Not as smooth as you'd expect a 25 to be but when concentrating it's delicious. — 10 years ago

Glendronach

Aged 21 Years Parliament Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Not sure what the 8.9 ratings were about: I think this is pretty damn good. Has a lot more depth that any Glendronach I've ever had - almost strikes me as a hybrid between a Highland and Speyside malt given the fullness on the palate. Has a nice smokiness to it as well. It's no Glenfarclas 40 (best scotch I've ever had), but this is good! — 8 years ago
