This was power and richness beyond belief and comprehension. Still a baby at 21 years old! It kept improving in the glass throughout the long night. A WOTN in the making but maybe not tonight. Almost demi-sec, gateway to Reciotto roots, thick-a-brick with concentrated plum raisin flavors but fresh acidity and imminence to amaze and keep you coming back for another taste (especially with some late night cheeses!). — 7 years ago
Gateway drug to the northern Rhone. Mineral laden tart black fruit, pepper, juicy, easy to drink yet quite complex. — 8 years ago
Love this innocent bystander Shiraz.. Easy to drink... An all time favourite — 8 years ago
This was my gateway scotch and it still doesn’t disappoint. A profoundly balanced whiskey that satisfies the Speyside itch every time. — 6 years ago
Sweet. Slight taste of the red "armpit" flavor, but it doesn't turn me off. In fact, I think this will help be my gateway to red wines. — 7 years ago
Really quite forward in its fruit and richness, something that I've learned to look for in this wine. A new world wine drinkers gateway to the old. Does not show age in anything but integration. — 7 years ago
A gateway "bourbon" for me and one we always keep handy at WineWeirdos HQ — 8 years ago
Very nice mix of Barbera and Nebbiolo. The '05 is ready to go now. Smooth and flexible, should pair with anything you think red wine generally would go with. Very dark in the glass. This is clearly a "gateway" to Barolo/Nebbiolo, but the Barbera brings smoother tannins earlier in the sharing cycle. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. — 8 years ago
Gateway Burgundy. Wine version of candy. — 9 years ago
This 2012 has aged well. Could be a ringer for village level Chablis. Maybe this will be my gateway into exploring Alsace! — 6 years ago
Very easy, fruit forward Pinot Noir with a light taste and smooth finish. Think gateway wine. 😜 — 6 years ago
An amazingly good wine — 7 years ago
This was my gateway wine. Many fond memories tossing this back 😍 — 7 years ago
Gateway Drug — 8 years ago
Single vineyard %100 Corvina Veronese from the hill top of the La Grola Vineyard which is said to be the birthplace of the grape. Aromas of Plum, wild blackberry, Rosemary, lavender and subtle sweet balsamic. Nearly %15 alcohol but so well integrated. Rich and silky tannins. Drinking beautifully already and has another good 5 years ahead of it. This is a great gateway drug for New world wine drinkers to get into Italian Wine. — 8 years ago
pretty damn good! Perfect gateway drug for a California Zinfandel or Merlot lover to start getting into Italian wines. It's big juicy fruit is somehow not too shabby! Definitely more balanced than other Nero's I've tried. It's perfect when you've had an especially hard day. A food pairing would have to be a heavy dish with a red sauce or red meat. gift from a neighbor, makes it taste even better!!!! cheers! — 8 years ago

One of my last bottles in 2017 but what a great wine this is !!! Incredible in fruit, silky in the mouth and seems to last forever in aftertaste. A really beautiful “gateway to heaven”... — 6 years ago
