Jeb 98 Waited the appropriate 3 hours after UPS delivery today,
Great nose, but definitely needs time, this will be great on Friday!
Reminds me of the 13 Bevan Syrah also from Bennet Valley,
I let that breath for 3 days
Winery notes
Syrah
The 2016 Judge Family Vineyard Syrah is sourced from the cold climate of the Bennett Valley of Sonoma. Meticulously farmed by Joe and Gail Judge, this rocky sloping vineyard planted on a mix of volcanic tufa, weathered stones, and clay, produces elegant and intensely aromatic Syrahs reminiscent of the great wines of Northern Rhone. Bennett Valley is a gently sloping elevated valley nestled between three mountain peaks in Sonoma County. Within the Sonoma Valley appellation
Sonoma Mountain and the Sonoma Coast, the well-drained mountain benchland soils combine with early morning fog and cool marine breezes to create ideal conditions for growing exceptional cool-climate varietals. The wine was cave aged in a combination of 78% used and 22% new French oak barrels for 20 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

A rare treat with Gail....brought back from Tuscany! Very smooth and delightful. — 7 years ago
Earthy and wet, with a hint of ash and smoke on the nose. Cherry cola pop after a good agitation. Great balanced tannins with a long smooth finish. After a good 20 minutes, the tannins mellowed and the finish held it’s ground. Shared a bottle at Wine DOC with Gail. — 8 years ago
Delicious with smoked lamb ribs. Nice blend of zinfandel, merlot and barbera. Thomas six pack cellar series, august — 5 years ago
Round two was just as fine as the first bottle. Perfect for WND, aka Wednesday Night Dinner. — 6 years ago
2012 Vintage. Wow that was great! 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Tannat, 13% Grenache, 3% Syrah. 16.1% alcohol, but didn’t taste overripe. Big wine. Gail said what the heck is Tannat? — 7 years ago
Had it at Carmines with Gail and Doc. — 8 years ago
So delicious. Not like other chardonnays. Much more delicious. Can I buy the other 599 bottles, please? — 5 years ago
Enjoyed with Sher, Gail, John day after Ashton married. — 5 years ago
2016 Vintage. 15.5% Alcohol. We were lucky to get into the Top release party as well this trip so was able to taste and meet Elena. Since Gail didn’t go, opened Sunday night. Just a lovely blend of 45% Grenache, 41% Syrah, 11% Mourvèdre, and 3% Roussanne. Using Roussanne instead of Viognier makes this wine unique. Bravo Elena and Stanley. — 6 years ago
This is the Hollister Hill Rosé. And and and it is high quality rosé. Cab Franc rosé like this is a year round wine. You can drink this with Cassoulet in the winter with a warm fire in the hearth. You can drink this at sunset with cheese and charcuterie. So far my favorite pink of 2018. — 7 years ago
