Nice and grassy, not as much fruit. Minerality and acidity is good on the palate, medium body. — 8 years ago

Very dry wine at this point, tannic, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, cooked rhubarb, backing spice and lots of crushed rocks and minerals. — 10 years ago

Fay Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Decant and pour. A splendid dark purplish garnet color. On the nose: inviting aeromatics jump from the glass with dark cherry jam, graphite, herbaceous, vanilla oak, floral. Taste: blackberry/black cherry, crushed stone ,tar, spice, and a medium plus tannic kick me wine. Like to try again in a few years. — 6 months ago

Dark Ruby. Lovely aromatics, violets, roses, flower garden that blossomed into a nice layered flavor trove of chocolate dipped cherry and toasted cinnamon stick. Perfect compliment to a NY Strip. — 7 years ago

Still big with heavy tannins. Good Stags leap fruit. Needs more time or long decanting to soften up. — 7 years ago

This was really cool to taste. Seems a few years past its peak, but still holding itself together. Lots of dried up earth and leaves. — 10 years ago

I bought some corked bottles and some screw cap bottles. This is for the corked one. At 13 years old it’s tasting great! I’m expecting the screw caps to be just as good. — 7 months ago

Bummer. Those are usually really enjoyable.

Reynolds Family Winery

Reserve Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Dark garnet colored with a slight brick colored meniscus on the edges. Dark fruit, cedar, black olives and leather on the nose. Bold tastes of black plums, figs, cherry cola, and licorice wrapped in silky tannins and perfect acidity. A great finish. Kudos to my friend Steve Reynolds for making such an unbelievably great wine. This wine is not showing any signs of letting up. A true heavyweight Cabernet at a great price. — 6 years ago
