Bright, silky smooth and lots of berries on the fore. Thought I wouldn't enjoy that profile before popping but it's an EXCELLENT light Pinot — 10 years ago
Nicely developed Bonnes Mares, there is still ample acidity and structure to carry this forward in the cellar. Red fruit punctuated by a high candy-like note along with black cherry, spice and herbs. Intensity is concentrated on the mid and fore palate, offering great structure and polish throughout. The finish is satisfyingly lengthy and spicy. — 10 years ago
2004 vintage from Clape. Deep ruby hue. Violet and floral, very plummy - dark fruits. Hints of sweet spice, nutmeg and cardoman, smokey notes. On the palate, medium plus body, high acidity - integrated and refreshing. Medium plus, plush and ripe tannins. Long finish. The plums to the fore. Still quite primary and youthful. Should develop nicely over the next 15 years. Open in 2025. — 10 years ago
It's hard to believe the Jules Desjourneys 2009 is a Beaujolais, such is the concentration and depth of this Moulin À Vent. The fruit is not so unusual, a generous dollop of wild strawberries and pie cherries, but then it veers sharply off the sunlit path, into a thicket of scrub and undergrowth, wet decaying leaves and stony brook, only emerge once more with violets, lilacs and sandalwood. Nicely developed, with fine fore-to-mid palate tannins, it's drinking beautifully now and has the potential to last. — 10 years ago
I had the 2008 Eclipse. Made by Drew Noon MW this wine is no shrinking violet. Masses of flavour - raspberry notes to the fore. 15.5% alcohol a bit hot but a good wine for a cold mid winters night in Toowoomba. 17. Tasted another on 17th July 2015 on a very cold night. Similar tasting notes to a year ago. Snowed in Stanthorpe Qld today. Yes, Sunny Queensland!! The perfect wine for tonight. — 11 years ago
1989 vintage, Krug Collection, bottle number 33. Deep golden brown. Very rich - honey and apricot, some oxidation and sherry notes. Great acidity and huge concentration. Broad mid palate. Bollinger style. Very honeyed with some pecan nuts. Creamy. Sour apricots. Very long. Style won't suit purists. But I love it. NB: with air, beef consume notes to the fore. — 10 years ago
Overall good wine. Enjoyed with pizza. Very drinkable — 10 years ago
2006 vintage. Good old fashioned Barolo. Light colour and hue. Medicinal notes. Floral and red cherry. Gorgeous crunchy tannins. Long finish. This is a step up from the '89. Plenty of years ahead of this wine. Very good indeed. NB: after 2 hours this wine is singing: roses and tar to the fore, integrated tannins, crisp acidity. Bouquet is out of this world. — 10 years ago
Dinner at Fore Street in Portland Maine. Soft and lushes with cherry and earth. Perfect. — 11 years ago

One of my favourite Languedoc whites. Made in small quantities from old Rousanne and Rolle (vermentino) vines. Densely packed with fruit, minerals, and and plenty of acidity. One of the truly fine and hitherto fore relatively unknown jewels of the Languedoc! [incidentally I opened a bottle from the cellar two days later which wasn't half as good - was it the setting, bottle variation, or company?] — 10 years ago
