As warmed up...solid layers of lemon from core to skin. Layers of subtle sugar and briney evolution. — 3 years ago
From a great looking bottle with a 2cm fill. Light gold, doesn’t look it’s age at all. Powerful nose with notes of lemon, crushed gravel, spice, white acacia flowers and with air some lemon creme. Massive core of acidity powered this up over 5 hours. Great bottle. (Bday dinner 4/13) — 5 years ago
A vigorous zesty nose of lime, slate, flowers. Intense and racy, the palate has great acidity, packed with flavor and citrus. A real killer puligny — 6 years ago
One of our favorite Rosés. Now that the 15 has settled in the bottle for year, time to enjoy. It's simply just better a year down the road. On the nose, bright, lean fruits of; strawberries, cherries, tangerine, watermelon. Sea spray, limestone & fresh pink florals. On the palate, the body had a presence of gluey. Fresh, bright, lean fruits of; strawberries, cherries, tangerine. Watermelon, grainy minerals, limestone, perfect level of chalkiness (big but not overpowering the fruit), saline, pink flowers, beautiful, round, soft acidity and a round polish finish 50-50 fruit and earth. Photos of our trip there in April 2016. Estate vines, large oak vat cellar and road signage. Added, are those beautiful Mourvedre grapes being harvested. — 7 years ago
Creamy and mouth filling, pink flowers and strawberry on the nose, whipped cream, candied red apple, wet stone on the palate — 7 years ago
Clear bright, medium yellow, no rim. Medium viscosity, no gas or sediment. Delicate nose of caramel and unripe pear, bitter almond, white flowers, gardenia, honeysuckle. Butternut squash. Slightly tropical on the palate with spice, pepper, malolactic, and vegetal notes. Slight oak. Medium body, medium acid and complexity. Well integrated and fresh on the palate. — 8 years ago
Richness and energy come together so well in the 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru. Time in the glass brings out the wine's curves, but the 2017 is so young, especially when tasted next to some of the older wines in this mini-vertical. Lemon confit, marzipan and white flowers add that extra touch of inner perfume and sweetness that is so compelling in this vintage. The 2017 is such a promising Charlemagne. I must say I was a little surprised by our visit to Matthiasson. It’s amazing the amount of wines, varietals and bottling’s they make in a extremely tiny space. As well, the old school wine equipment that produce some very nice to high-end wines. It’s amazing they pull off what they do with facilities so far from the definition of a modern winemaking facility by today’s Napa standards. This says very good things about their staff.
Also, my notes will not be as detailed as I like...our host was speed tasting.
On the nose, lemon, lime, cream, green apple, pineapple, grapefruit, steel/flint and spring flowers.
Full body and a little waxy. Lemon, lime, cream, green apple, pineapple, grapefruit, steel/flint and spring flowers. Nice subtle volcanic minerals and soft chalkiness. Good acidity with a nice finish.
Have most of you picked up on grape shears woven into some of their label artwork?

California Rhône Style White Blend. White flowers and pears on the nose. Grapefruit, Apricot, Lemon and Herbs on the pallet. A bit of saline on the finish. Good wine! — 6 years ago
Fresh, lively and juicy with great acid, fine but present tannins and cherry, cranberry, sweet slice and purple flowers with a touch of earth. Yum!!! — 7 years ago
One of the greatest wines I have ever enjoyed red or white. Rich yet zesty, sizzling yet abundantly fruited, chiseled yet tender ... Perfume like aromas: apple and pear, exotic woods, vanilla, cream, beeswax, toasted brioche, raw earth, wet stone, wild flowers and Lemon Curd... it was sensory overload - an explosion of nuance - The richness gave way to the acidity; The structure gave way to the terroir and yet the Riches was still there as was the acid as was the terroir on an on and on - perfection!!! Served out of 3 L at Gwen restaurant on Sunset Blvd during the "best bottle" dinner hosted by wineLA on February 8, 2017. 100 points drink now through the rest of your life time.... I do hope to try this again someday somewhere. — 7 years ago
I feel I have found a treasure for which I have been searching for years. My second Chateau Rayas - first a 2000, now a 2006. It is a perfect wine with a delicacy that reminds me of a beautiful burgundy. Perfect balance of fruit and earth, but restrained so that flowers emerge on both the nose and in the mouth. Just magnificent. Should I tell all of you when my birthday is...? — 7 years ago
Said fuck it to all my errands and did this instead. Very reductive start- dead flowers, Brett, wet cardboard , serious funk. Give it 3 minutes and then it's rose petals on the nose, minerals and slight pepper on the tannic finish. Amazing — 9 years ago
Great way to start the pre Valentine dinner. Delicious Pinot -so smooth — 4 years ago
I just got all up in this. It was so damn good. Cut white flowers, fresh pear and a cool viscous mouth feel. Eye opening white blend from the master of Amarone donated by an American white blended human @Steve Anderson — 5 years ago
Drunk it at papas steak house. Very nice. — 5 years ago
Broad white flowers and lime on the nose. A hint of apples (premox on the horizon?) but a broad complex palate that’s quite developed. Lacks a little of the puligny definition you’d want but fun right now. Given the appley notes I’d check in with this soon or it could be another sad example of Leflaive’s descent into premox. A good wine right now. — 6 years ago
Very open knit nose. White flowers with honey, jasmine and limestone on the nose. Very poised on the palate. No hard edges. There’s a soft lemon on the palate. Very refreshing and clean — 6 years ago
