Hands down the best California Petit Sirah I have had. It's balanced with ripe fruit and and suave tannins. Rhone characteristics mingle with Cali fruit. At under $10 a bottle, this is the best deal on the wine planet! — 13 years ago
Hints of plum, clove, mild acid, velvet mouthfeel. Balanced tannins. — 9 years ago
Steve Peck- If Paso Robles had a sister city among European wine regions, it could very well be Jumilla, Spain. Both are known for 50 degree diurnal temperature swings and calcareous soils. The wines are incredibly ripe and juicy if this example from Gil Family is typical. 70% Monastrell (aka, Mourvèdre), 30% Cabernet. This wine walks the line between the unctuous Rhone genre and the tightness of Bordeaux. Huge fruit volume with a rounded palate. Label declares 16%, but you would never guess it. I'm impressed. — 10 years ago

Light in color and body for a grenache/syrah blend. A little young still. Still delicious and wonderful with goat cheese. — 10 years ago
