Reminiscent of Beaujolais' Gamay, this southern part of Tuscany's Ampeleia is producing some fine red wine! Mine tonight, after 30 minutes swim and spin in the decanter's pool of naked open space and air shows first to the nose wet rocks, slate and sandstone freshly accenting menthol and anise then strictly earthen dirt and minerals and a hint of the berries. First kiss is lightly but intriguingly nasty, wet and dripping red fruit which immediately coats and clings but most interestingly reaches back for the wet rocks overlooking the Med, then re-engages just in time to leave hints of her red and blue berry essence complimenting the blackened octopus in a mash of white beans and spices laced with a hint of Tabasco offered up by Chapel Hill's Il Palio located off Franklin Street (checkout both) Ciao🕶 — 10 years ago
An amazing wine - rich, complex, great oak notes - Um Graves delicioso, rico, complexo, notas amadeiradas intensas. Belíssimo Bordeaux! — 10 years ago
The essence of ripe cherries and strawberries invade every nook and cranny of this wine. Extremely silky and smooth in the mouth which produces a finish that reminded me of the horizon when you are looking out from the deck of a boat, just does not quit. — 11 years ago
I am I the mood for some Pinot tonight and so I am opening some French Pinot Noir I purchased for roughly $20.99. I am very happy for this selection. The nose is has very nice aromas of strawberry, cranberry, herbal essence and wet soil. The first taste has brought out those wonderful burgundy flavors of strawberry, red raspberry, the herbal notes continue through to the finish. There are fine mushroom and cloves with bits of cinnamon and a medium acidity that brings it all the way back round to a well balanced bottle of wine. If you can find this and at this price point don't hesitate to pick it up. — 11 years ago

A beautiful wine. Evoking the essence of fruit but dry as a bone. — 10 years ago
Relatively Jammy with rhubarb, brown spice and vanilla essence notes — 10 years ago
Really enjoyed this wine, many different layers of taste and smell. Darts of with green fruit, crispy tight acid from the Chablis schist. It finishes nicely with some oak, but just the right amount to show the true fruit essence. I'm sure it will last and evolve over several more years😄 — 10 years ago
Wow, this was a surprise. Sweet and raisiny. Long lived. — 10 years ago
1996 vintage Salon (Blanc de Blancs). Disgorged 2010. Pale gold. Ripe nose of stone fruits and red apples, vanilla essence, some chocolate / butterscotch and apple sauce. Apricot from the ripeness. On the palate, this has weight, concentration, huge acidity and a sour stone fruit character with mineral hit. Clos Ste Hune Riesling on crack. Great bubble fineness. Long sour finish that I love. Great wine. Could age for half a century with the concentration and acidity profile. — 11 years ago

Awesome, most likely better in 2-3 years — 12 years ago
2004 vintage. Medium ruby hue. Plush, dark plum, furniture polish, leather and cinamon. Obvious oak wood - vanilla essence. Some green notes indicative of the vintage. On the palate, medium plus body, medium acidity and medium plus concentration. Medium tannins - ripe and lush. Medium plus finish. Decent. Drinking well now - doubt it will improve much from here. Fruit is still good. Drink now until 2022. — 10 years ago

Dom Perignon P2, 1998. Pale golden hue. Almost mead like honey notes, vanilla essence, sweet lemon pieces, creamy brioche notes. On the palate, high acidity, old wood notes on the front of the palate, elegant and fine on the mid palate, quite light and airy. Decent finish with slight puckering from the acidity. I like it. Drink now until 2025. Slight concern on the woody notes - could be bottle specific. — 10 years ago
