What a sweet way to start the weekend with some aged #Riesling from #Karthäuserhof. One half bottle is just not enough for two :-) — 11 years ago
Cider, apricot, cement. Salivary point blank. — 11 years ago
Strong pear fruit, with moderate minerality and acidity. It seemed to me to be a little sweeter than some kabinett wines, and to have a hint of the spice that Riesling sometimes has. — 8 years ago

Pale yellow with a wiff of petroI. White fruits. Acid is lovely. Doesn't have the sheer power of the GG. — 9 years ago
NOT the GG bottling. Dry but not bone dry. Was perfect with Thai takeout. Showing a bit of salinity, mint, and ripe orange — 9 years ago
One of our all-time favorite estates and one that is a hallmark of great Ruwer Valley Rieslings--delicate, elegant, downright pretty! This 1989 late-pick is a small botrytis bomb yet never heavy or cloying--a truly sensuous experience!

A really versatile 375ml from a top producer that relates so naturally with our menu. — 11 years ago
Happy New Year!
Maybe the Michel Arnould old vines powerhouse is too serious for a lighthearted celebration, but it was just right for father and son wine geeks having New Years dinner alone together for the first time since 1999.

Eitelsbacher Karthauserhofberg auslese long gold capsule 2004, VDP auction. With peppers stuffed 3 ways: trout mousse, foie gras, and Gorgonzola. A match for all three. The wine had enough botrytis to be beerenauslase--light and deep at the same time like the food. Great job in the kitchen, Gary! — 9 years ago
Harmonious sugar, acid, and tonality. Decanted. On point. — 9 years ago
Gorgeous. Stanky Ruwer love on the nose. So complex. Wide open. — 9 years ago
This wine makes an argument for sulphur. Sorry, Alice. It was alive and beautiful. — 10 years ago

50 years old and glorious! Honey, lime, petrol, mint, dried pineapple, expression fails me — 8 years ago
