Oh,yes, this one is a keeper. First, a nose full of Fall leaves from a huge pile you just dove into. It's rustic, light bodied and full of fine flavors and silky tannins. Red plums and currant lead off the palate, flowed along by a warm and long finish. Pairs well with slow-cooked beef dishes featuring Mediterranean flavors. — 9 years ago
Started off with a Kistler Chardonnay that I didn't take a pic of. Beautiful wine as you all know! This was the 2nd wine if the evening and toped the Kistler Chardonnay. It was deeper., with a fuller mouthfeel and a touch more oak and vanilla. Beautiful Chardonnay provided by our friends Dov & Rachel. This was my 1st time enjoying this wine and it was stellar. Thank you Dove & Rachel for both wines 👍😘 — 9 years ago
— 9 years ago
@Shay Aldriedge My 1st Aonair Grenache that i was lucky enough to enjoy thanks to my bud Shay! My 1st bottle was corked and he was kind enough to send me a 2nd!! You are insane my friend! This one was firing on all cylinders and definitely game to drag race Grenache! I agree spot on with Shay’s previous post., definitely a Syrah nose and Grenache on the palate. Smoked bacon., cedar, a touch of spice and dark fruit. I dig it! I decanted for approximately 2 1/2 minutes prior to enjoying the 1st sip! I could smell the nose from arms length and could not resist. I’m guessing this will develop well over the next 1 hour. I love seeing the progression which is why I dove right into it. Thanks bud!! 👏👏👏👏👍👍👏👏👏. I have a few beauties heading your way tomorrow. — 7 years ago
2013 Shafer one point five cabernet sauvignon from the Stags Leap district of coarse! Well, perfection dad and son! John and Doug, you guys have mastered it. The cork was in perfect condition. After a 45 min eternity of time for decanting, the color is as dark as the night sky on a stormy night in the hills of Tennessee. The legs are slow and thick. The bouquet is peppered cranberry juice with a twist of rip figs growing on the tree. The initial palate is reminiscent of buttered toast and blackberry jam. There is a hint of spice and black pepper. On the finish which is very long, I detect black coffee and dark chocolate - not the Dove version, but the bitter version. There is an fired oaky wood flavor with a blast of a maduro cigar! The finish is very dry and if I don't get a sip of water soon My tongue my shrivel up. But I need another sip first!
Fantastic wine!
Here is a toast to the Shafer family and to my wonderful and beautiful Dayanara on our new home!
Cheers!

— 9 years ago
Anno 2011. Ingresso quasi formaggioso al naso, dove non si esprime al meglio, ma in bocca viene fuori il verdicchio, fresco, minerale, glicerico, inconfondibile. Chapeau — 9 years ago
I know I said I was coming off my Zin kick, but some habits are hard to break, because this one is truly at the top of my list from Klinker Brick. Perfect levels of fruit jamminess, depth, spice and all from 90+ year vines. Great with the game-centric menu at Lonesome Dove. — 9 years ago
Pale ruby to garnet. Animal, dove, cherry, raspberry, goose. High acidity, medium minus sugar. Interesting to find a family in the area making Old World styled Pinots — 9 years ago

Pairing at dark chocolate tasting. Nice match with Dove dark, heightening the vanilla and middle chocolate flavors. Astringency heightened with Ghirardelli 72%. Overmatched by 82% Scharffen Berger — 6 years ago
