Sweet notes
Well melded tannins, red fruit and black fruit
Bit of spice
Third Meritage wine in the Hanukkah celebration.
Might have commanded an even better score but it was chasing the Dominus and the Les Pavots
Glad I own two more

Didn't have the 2002 Dominus so "settled" for this beauty. — 9 years ago
Best of the three bottles that we had, and that's something.... Because the original guy from Dominus, was the guy that owned Petrus... This was just real good... Looking for a case tomorrow.... Trattoria Romano/Boca. — 10 years ago
I don't get the hype. Well made but I'd rather have an old dominus at this price — 9 years ago
Everything you'd want in a cab and from an under appreciated cab region that simplistically is know only for Malbec. I would put this up against any of the well know Cali cabs that are 50-100% more. Definitely more Cali in style with fruit playing more forward role. Next time you reach for Insignia or Dominus try this instead. I think you'll be pleased. — 9 years ago
Sexy. Served against 1995 Dominus. Much more elegant than the elegant Napa red...not surprising, but the exercise was fun. — 10 years ago

Bob McDonald
In comparison with the Dominus from the same year the 389 was more fruit forward. More "Aussie". Trademark mocha choc malt notes with cassis. — 9 years ago
