I think my first Tavel. Strawberry color - equally full body - overly acidic. Guess I’ll try Tempier — 4 years ago

Insanely good. Needed about 40 minutes of air the exploded on the nose. French perfume for days. Palate was exceptional. Will be buying more. — 4 years ago

Enough complexity, enough acidities, enough body, great harmony, 99,99% pure and absolutely no hint of superficiality. Cleaner than Pradeaux or Gaussen and earthier than Pibarnon and Tempier. Tastes exactly right. — 5 years ago

Bandol Mourvèdre

This is the approachable side of Bandol rouge. Softened tannins with a blast of garrigue herbs. Bitter, peppery finish, nose more subdued than we'd like. Overall, really quite nice--good QPR, but won't replace Pradeux or Tempier in the cellar. — 7 years ago

Not far from there. Wow! Some of the hardest blind tasting wines to call are from Bandol and around that region.

Really impressed that Delectable ID'd this wine. 100% Marsanne usually blended into Tempier Bandol Blanc. Grown in the front yard of the Lynch compound. Such a special and unique wine. Only bottled a couple times. Coming soon! #unicornwine #lynchsoils #StonioLynch — 9 years ago

Les Domaniers Ott Selection Côtes de Provence Rosé Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

Classic Provençal rosé, nice acidity, slightly salty mineral character but not the mouthfeel or juiciness of the 2014 Tempier Bandol rosé. Slightly harsh finish. Over pressed? — 9 years ago

I know, I could be having some Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge or some Monastrell from Spain...no. I'm lucky enough to enjoy this elegant, sexy, sultry Mourvèdre...Arizona never tasted so good. — 10 years ago

Nice Provence Rose from Le Domaine de Triennes & the team of, Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée Conti & Jacques Seysses of Dujac.

Classic, well crafted, great on a warm day & palate shifter from white to red. Excellent QPR @ $15...not giving up my Domaine Tempier habit but, will get worked into the mix.

I won’t open another bottle for one to two more years. Needs some bottle evolution to soften its sweetness and integrate in IMHO.

All the extra heft and concentration you want from top pink Bandol. Spicy, mineral elements play nice with white peach, nectarine fruitiness. IMO, every bit the wine Tempier Rosé is, at a fraction of the price. — 5 years ago

Domaine Léon Barral

Faugères Carignan Blend 2011

Reductive & decanted. Opened up aromatically showing cracked pepper & deep blackberry notes. Powerful, but shows a wild character. Dark fruits with something between spice, herbs & an almost umami note balancing that fruit. Tannic, but the decant tamed those a bit. Barral is like the garage band version of Tempier. Love their wines. — 7 years ago

THIS... is... Seriously. Good. Phucking. shtuff. Surprisingly good...? Maybe. Luckily good..? Perhaps. Unless you've met Dirty: Which most of the wine drinking USA has -but, rather, intentionally fucking good. AND -possibly luckily too -as long as luck has something to do with exceptionally talented farming combined with tremendous desire(s) to make vibrant and ridiculously love-able fermented grape juice of pure integrity and a casually particular design. This wine is that friend you only get to see once a year, that one you cannot wait to see again. The wine is too young to rate with any opinion other than Rawesome, and while I've only had one bottle, I've certainly not had enough to offer an opinion against Rawsome -therefore tasting notes be damned -yet, this can be said: here is a clean wine, lacking brett or VA or other 'flaws'; a bright, refreshing jubilant anthem of untainted wine, an ode to a grape that will likely become California's bastard child once popularity hits and Dirty & Rowdy prices climb to astronomical, near Tempier-like pricing and ficcichlty to come by. (I liked ficcichlty over difficulty since spellcheck kept it purposely so did I.). Oh wait, they're already ficcichlt to come by. Damn it. — 11 years ago
