The first audible of the night was this stunning 2015 Hubert Lignier M-S-D 1er VV that John pulled out in between the Rabbit and Beef courses. Full disclosure, I get twitterpated when a bottle of H. Lignier gets opened. There’s just something in the style that’s mesmerizing across the range, from the Passetoutgrain to the Clos de la Roche. These are wines of power and grace. Well fruited but with layers of complexity. John considers this to be the best value of H. Lignier’s offerings. Hard to argue. — 7 years ago
Gorgeous light strawberry color. Beautiful red cherries, menthol, some spices, & rose petals. Quite fresh and very light. Complex. Succellent cherries, dry, with medium + acid, some rose petals, and spices. Light body with a gorgeous smooth finish. A great food wine. — 10 years ago
From taste: Lovely fresh and pure flinty nose, crisp apple and smoke, deft touch of toast, great clarity. Nice zesty acids, sprightly and jubilant, very clear apple, pear, lemon and flint. Decent mid-palate, a lightweight style, long riveting finish. Very classy drop! — 11 years ago

My goodness this was delicious. Popped and poured; consumed over three days. Enjoyable on Day 1 after a few hours of air and through Day 3 as it slowly evolved. Initially very tightly wound. Red plums, earth and wet rocks. So pure and so energetic. Incredible length. This just seems to hang on. After trying this (and their transcendent Clos de la Roche), it’s clear that Hubert and Laurent are wizards. Quality at every level. Bravo. — 8 years ago
Dark cherry, a little earth and tartness when first opened. After breathing some sweeter pomegranate notes showed. Very interesting 2001 vintage. — 10 years ago
1976 vintage. At Bistro de L'Hotel, Beaune. Deep garnet. Drunk immediately after removing cork. Wow, what a great nose. Some shit, Earth and dark berry fruits. Black truffle and rich fruit cake. Touch of pepper. Quite mineral. Super and still very much alive. On the palate, high acidity, medium tannin - integrated and plush. Vanilla ice cream. Good length. Remarkably good. Drink now until??? NB: the wine is very good for about 7 minutes after opening, and then becomes more difficult to drink taking on a dried fruit character. — 10 years ago

Decent tannins, long life ahead. Great color, class is nsg. — 11 years ago
2011 vintage. Medium ruby. Quite closed. Floral, red fruit profile. Medium acidity. Medium minus tannins. Soft and gentle. Bit green in parts. Medium plus on finish. Slightly dilute to suggest this has many years of development ahead of it. Decent and elegant. — 11 years ago
