Domaine la Boutinière

Grande Réserve Vieilles Vignes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2017

Grateful for having visited this charming mom and pop domaine last summer and for finding room in the suitcase to bring this friend home. I guess there was some thought to wait but so it goes — no complaints here. Fruits have mellowed significantly in 16 months’ time if my booze-addled memory can be trusted (it can’t). Grip is getting grippier. I think we’re out of the young and ripe phase. Time to tuck these 17s away til the next pandemic. — 3 years ago

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Boutin 2018

Smuggled this home from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It’s superb. Dry and high minerality. 40% Clairette, 30% Grenache blanc, 15% Bourboulenc, 15% Roussane. As my man Pierre said, “a dangerous wine.” 13.5% ABV in a white will def fuck you up. — 5 years ago

Superb and only a 9.0?

I’m a tough grader. 9 and up means it’s very good when you see it from K Lock.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2011

Fruity and full initially. Tapers into waxed earthiness with hints of sweet rot and fruity wood. Pleasant reasonably priced chateauneuf. — 9 years ago
