Savigny-lès-Beaune Chardonnay 2019

This wine has a really crisp and zippy acidity that really punctuates your taste buds and cleanses the palate.

Took me a few mins to realize I was drinking Chardonnay.

"Grand Pré" Fleurie Gamay 2015

A nice Beaujolais from a vintage that I don’t usually love compared to 2014/2016. Definitely better with an hour or so in a decanter to let the tannins integrate a bit more. Dark purple in the glass - darker than expected. Nice cherry aromas. Still could resolve a bit more on the finish but with a slight chill is nice. — 6 years ago

Totally agree on the vintages. 14s were killer. 15s just too much heat

Château Du Bois Chantant

Supérieur Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Gotta drink some French juice whilst watching the French final, non? Hm. Cherries, blueberries, oaky vanilla, kinda sharp tannin, but it's rounding off a bit as it opens. Kinda digging the Froggy grape squeezins. Really coating my mouth and lingering. — 6 years ago

Sonoma Reserve Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2017

So much butter on the nose, my heart melts. Citrusy creamy notes, smells so good. First thing on the palette is lemon, and then vanilla, followed by a clean, smooth buttery taste. I. Love. This. Chardonnay. — 6 years ago

Les Marconnets Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Notes of plum, earth, soy sauce. I thought tannins were still fairly pronounced but not rough. Lovely pairing with our smoked abalone and black cod….. — 2 years ago

Les Talmettes Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2007

In a perfect place. Always love Bize and with some nice age this is great. Excellent pick from the somm at Daniel. Beautifully aromatic with wonderful fruit. Just a slight hint of tannin, but still good lifting acid on the finish. Great pairing with both a skin-on black bass as well as a nice strip loin. Long finish. — 4 years ago

Great wine, even in “off” vintage. Bize was the producer that got me hooked on red burg...

Nice @Michael Greene. I was a bit skeptical of the 07 (even if it was a great year for graduating). But the somm talked me into it and she was absolutely right.

Les Perrières Bourgogne Chardonnay 2017

Reduction, slighty sulphuric, flinty smoke. On the 2nd day it opened up with red apples and lemonpeel, still some flint and wet stones, very tight and fresh style. Minerality like drinking a quarry. Amazing value. — 6 years ago

Clos Du Bois

California Chardonnay 2017

A hint of peach. Crisp and clean finish. If served chilled let it warm a bit. Then a slight butter comes through. Very pleasant. — 6 years ago

Le Bois Jacou Touraine Gamay

A solid budget “Beauj”. This actually tastes like terroir and you can tell the winemaker is trying to not get too involved in the cellar unlike last nights moulin a vent. A lightness and tartness that is quite fun raspberry notes of fruit and a lot of acidity lead to a good drinking wine. Perhaps cherry notes in the middle? The finish isn’t huge but it does linger after swallowing. Actually the nose is quite pretty. Lilac notes? A flower. Highly recommended. The light tartness on the finish might a little much for some people. Maybe air will mellow it. Will buy again.
Edit: after 20 or 30 min of air the tart end integrates and the wine smoothed even more out. This probably deserves a higher rating than 9. Highly recommended

Domaine de la Mordorée

Cuvée La Reine des Bois Tavel Rosé Blend 2018

What a wonderful Rośe from Domaine Tavel the de Bois. I know I drank the wine colder than it should be consumed, but what a guilty pleasure, the nose had a hint of raspberry soda, and the palate was like an explosion of a dry adult raspberry soda, and withe the French bread & tomatoes with basil, I could not have asked for anything better!!! — 6 years ago
