V12. Very nice, young, decant 30+ minutes. Tobacco nose with slight eucalyptus hints . Cherry and black currant fruits. Dry, tight, bark finish. Still maturing. — 7 years ago
In 1975, the Wagners produced their first Special Selection Cab, which remains the only wine to have twice been named WS "Wine of the Year" (84 & 90). Dark dense red with black fruit and currant aromas adding a gentle touch of spice. On the palate layered flavors of plum, blackberry and sweet raspberry together with cacao, sugar cane and supple leather. Firm but approachable tannins, nice now but aging will benefit. Long ending with earthy notes. Tasting Sample. — 9 years ago
Australia makes a specialty of blending Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz and one of the better examples is Penfolds Bin 389. This is an excellent mature wine, doing it easily at 15 years of age, and will go on. Notes of black currant and mint but at this age all the descriptors just melding into "damn good claret". Perfect with roast lamb. 60% Cab Sauv, 40% Shiraz. 2001 vintage. — 9 years ago
One of the oldest winemaking properties in the Medoc, d'Issan has been turning out wine since the late 1,400s. But never mind that, '96 was a great vintage for the Left Bank, and this bottle seems to validate that fact. The nose is charming, with aromas of black currant, cassis, anise and lavender sachet. Nicely delineated on the palate, it comes across as cool and elegant with firm tannins studded with graphite, minerals, blackberries, dried herbs and that signature Margaux floral note right at the close. — 9 years ago
Clear deep purple colour with watery rim. Clean medium intensity aroma with minty black cherry and black currant with hint of oak smokiness and vanilla. Dry on the palate full bodied medium alcohol with medium acidity and high but smooth velvety tannin. Flavours of earthy black currant, black cherry, and vanilla. Flavours last through into its long pleasant finish. Very good quality, drink now but can age for another 3 to 5 years for a even more balanced complexity. — 11 years ago
Blend of 61% Cab Sauv, 30% Merlot, 8% Cab Franc & 1% Petit Verdot. Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruit aromas & herb notes. On the palate black raspberry & blackberry, currant-like, with tobacco, cacao and smoky oak notes. Fine polished tannins, long finish ending with fruit and earthy mineral tones, just starting to drink well but will last for the next decade+. Tasting Sample! — 4 years ago
An early evening HH at home with a fabulous Bordeaux wine. Color is a dark brown especially on the edges Red fruit and dark plum with a subtle barnyard lingering on the nose. Tastes of black fruit, currant and leather with earthy and smoky flavors and a sweet finish; tannins are mild and drinks smoothly. — 6 years ago
Perfectly aged in large format bottle. Tannins have held up over time but don't overwhelm. Aromas: dried roses, burnt blackberry. Flavors: currant, dried cranberry, juniper. Beautiful wine. Once in a lifetime opportunity to taste it! — 8 years ago
Opens with smells of cassis, currant, and dried herbs. The tastes include orange peel, dark fruit, and tobacco. He finish is smooth and long. — 9 years ago
Clear deep garnet in colour. Medium intensity with herbaceous tobacco leaf notes and oak spice. Still developing. Dry palate with black currant and brambly notes, medium bodied. Left.bank Cabernet dominant blend with good persistence and length. Could drink now or age further. — 9 years ago
Here is a grand daddy Bordeaux, both in size and stature that just never fails to disappoint. Black currant, dark fruits, tobacco, vanilla, all rolled seamlessly with the classic minerality of this famous terroir. More impressive than expected for a 2006, age has treated this wine well as the nose was opulent and delicious and tannins well integrated and smooth. Sadly, this double magnum was simply not sufficient to satisfy our thirst... — 9 years ago
Wow. Blew me away. Ripe dark Jammy currant tobacco but really soft tannins. I actually picked up this bottle after someone left in the back of a cab. Win win. Let it decant for at least an hour. Totally different flavor profile — 10 years ago
A nice example of a Rothschild family wine. Nose of cedar, plums and black currant with similar flavors spinning in the substantial tannins. Medium to long finish. Drinking great now and for a while to come. Enjoyed it! — 11 years ago
Lots of vanilla, black currant and cherry. Dry on the finish. — 6 years ago
Black currant, espresso and cassis. — 7 years ago
For me this wine is better than ratings indicate. Black currant flavors are at the forefront and I like black currant, so it fits my pallet. — 7 years ago
Birth year wine for a very good friend acquired from the irrepressible @Matthew Beckman still a lot of depth and density, solid structure and lots of red currant, grilled herbs, menthol and cedar. Pop and pour with confidence. — 8 years ago
Of the 2 Bordeaux drinking the best tonight, but long term the Brane-Cantenac 2005 will outlive this wine by 10 years easy. While very complex, a fine touch a green is traceable.
A classic currant and forest floor nose, fall leaves abound with a spike of spice and a barely there green that while subtle is apparent.
The pleasure here is higher for its more mature tasted and feel, while the brawny 2005 is a better wine it was not as enjoyable to me and feel it will be another notch enter in 3 years, and likely 2 notches better in 5.
The elegance and feel on this wine is ready to go and will easily go another 5+ years. — 9 years ago
Sweet little half bottle. Lovely detailed nose from the beginning, but hard and metallic on the pallet out of the gate. Opened and softened considerably. Sweet tannins, nice plump middle. Red currant.. Was good in he glass for 2 hours. Pas mal for a 375. #bordeaux — 9 years ago
Fantastic wine - this vintage is exceptionally drinkable right now. Dark cherry has moved to a blackberry, dark currant flavor texture in this vintage. — 10 years ago
Smooth with nice medium finish. Black cherry and currant — 10 years ago
Oh man. Oh man. Wow. This Chevy has progressed beautifully. Wet dirt, mushroom, red currant, cedar. — 11 years ago

Always enjoy having this wine. It has never ceased to impress. Todays wine was the 2018 Marchesi Antinori Tignanello. This is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc.
The nose has notes of black cherry, plum, blackberry, licorice, herbs, violets, leather and brick dust.
On the palate gave me cherry, plum, blackberry, red currant, hint of vanilla, spices, black pepper, cedar and earth.
This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth velvety mouthfeel on entry, medium to medium + acidity and medium + fine elegant grippy tannins that has a long red and blie fruit dusty finish. Hope your week has started on a good note and the week ahead is smooth as this Tignanello. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 4 years ago
