A great non-expensive Merlot for everyday drinking. — 8 years ago
Doesn't start out this way but ends surprisingly full and fruity, Rich. Good bang for the buck. — 8 years ago
1979 vintage. In magnum. At Hotel du Marc. Pale copper hue. On the nose, soy sauce, cranberry sauce, red currant, saline minerality. On the palate, medium plus acidity, medium minus body, medium concentration of flavour. Longish finish. Very good indeed. Drink now - in magnum, could age for another 5 years +. — 8 years ago
Happy 2nd anniversary! Love the unique orange-copper color. — 10 years ago

Some browning, earthy, mature, great depth, lovely mature Oregon Pinot, perfect with our first of season Copper River salmon. — 11 years ago
Sea-breeze, copper, and balanced intensity. Just lovely. — 12 years ago
This is a lovely albeit light rosé. The consult at its heart gives it a happy elegance and hint of spice. Pale copper salmon, fresh, floral and slightly citrus on nose and palate it is light and refreshing. Also delicious and very easy to drink. Bring in the summer — 8 years ago
Gold copper. Wildly fragrant. Flower shop, cured meats, pepper, tangy peach. M+ body, sour, light bitterness. Long skin maceration gives it a slight stick of tannin. Awesome. — 8 years ago
2014. Very nice blend for the price. Let it open up for awhile first. Does beg for food, but can be consumed alone if you like drinking reds without food. — 8 years ago
Beautiful copper color, crisp and subtle cherrie notes. Be great with chicken or fish. — 9 years ago
Great drop 2013 — 9 years ago
The perfect perfume from a hybrid of flower and fungi. A strawberry cyborg with meaty core. Stones comprised of smoky dust. These embody the dichotomies of good Pinot. In it come together the disparate physics of the ethereal. There is citrus in the red plum and guava. Copper in the pine bark. Icebergs in the sweltering river. The body is nuanced, quick as live blood, with mineral weight. Cranberry with mint that turns to thyme, to orange, to feldspar. Star anise that becomes a tart strawberry and raspberry interplay. This is a beauty playing the perfect hostess to terroir and desire. A fine bedside wine. The fruits resonate with seemingly endless vibrations between tart and citric, ripe and decomposing. Chalky earth, nitric sky and briny ocean. — 9 years ago
2002 vintage Rose. Light salmon, copper hue. Chalk, wet rock to the fore. Red currant and cranberry. Slight blossom notes. Iron fragments. On the palate, very lean and balanced as is the Crystal style. Not the concentration of the white 2002. If there's any tannins here, you have to focus to notice them. Maybe at the back end there's a touch of weight from the tannins. Very young - too young. Don't touch for 7-10 years. Makings of a great wine as acidity is so balanced with the fruit. Love it. NB: Pinot cold macerated for 4 days - to extract colour but little tannins. Then blended with Chardonnay and co-fermented. Quite unique. No added red wine per se. — 10 years ago
Moody copper gold in color. Wonderfully mature, botrytis infused, sugar-coated pecans, salty caramel, cookie dough, dried guava, cappuccino cream, cured ham. Did I say it's very complex!? Really love the balance and mixture of full-throttle sweetness and mouthwatering savoury, hearty elements. Beautiful wine to sip and contemplate on this perfect Indian-Summer-Sunday.... — 11 years ago

Another rare creature from Forlorn Hope. Matthew never disappoints. This is 100% Trousseau Noir from Matthew's own Rorick Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills. Like the Jura with some extra California sunshine. Juicy with a little funk and a little herbaceousness. Pours a pale copper-inflected ruby. Nose of pomegranate and blood orange peel, Campari, fennel seed, crushed granite, a rose-y floral character, and guava. Perhaps the slightest hint of brett? But not at all distracting. Palate echoes the nose pretty congruently, still pomegranate and blood orange predominating with a little more spice and mineral focus. Light bodied, medium (+) acid, and just a tiny touch of soft tannin. If you were insistent on having a red wine as an aperitif, I can't imagine one much better than this one with its herbal, slightly bitter Campari-esque edge. Drink at cellar temp. Also a great option if you want a red with a charcuterie and cheese plate. — 8 years ago
Color of dark amber. Nice nose of green apple, spice, mint, ripe banana, and aldehyde. Taste of condensed brown sugar, toffee, a bit spice, a bit minty, and very smooth. Nice green apple and black tea aftertaste on the tongue. A good bottle with decent mix of sweetness and spice. A bit lack in complexity but overall very enjoyable and easy to drink. — 8 years ago
Beautiful copper hue, notes of dried apricots, almonds and tangerine rind. Fresh, lively, delicious. Possibly the best orange wine out there. — 9 years ago
2014,,, Jolie-Laide, Fannucchi Road Vineyard, Sonoma County, Trousseau Gris. One of the most gorgeous wines ever (color). A rich, shimmering copper. This is aging well. Much better than the first bottle that I opened for Mother's Day last year. Bright, tart strawberry and a hint of tangerine. Just a great patio wine on a crisp Spring evening. One bottle left. When is the 2015 available? — 9 years ago
