Remarkable evening last night at VHR sponsored tasting of the 2014 vintage VHR. Heather and Bruce (@Bruce Phillips) hosted a lovely evening for the VHR faithful popping a Shramsburg Champagne toast with heavy appetizers followed by comparison of the 2012 and new 2014 vintages. Notes for 2014: Obviously young, but the aromatics hitting the nose are alive and run the continuum of all the green leaves in your spice drawer mixed together. Heavy mouth feel with flavor from the darker end of the spectrum: licorice, dates, tobacco. Finish is long and constant. Will be interesting to see how this one changes over time. — 9 years ago

Killer saison that focuses on the varying effects of yeast versus hops or malt. The latter two remain constant. — 11 years ago
07' tête de cuvee. Has a creamy texture and spends 4-5 years sur lie... Délicieux! — 12 years ago

Wow. Just kept changing. What was constant was the high acidity. This wine has plenty of legs left in it. Think key lime and floral notes at the open. Shifts gears and shows a lot of tropical notes like just ripe pineapple. Good body. — 10 years ago

By the end of night one the cerebral roller coaster ride left me bewildered. Despite being guilty of infanticide, the wine was not necessarily closed for business. Rather, it was like tasting four or five different wines over a few hours. A darker than usual kirsch provides a canvas for the swirling plethora of flowers, herbs, meat, and earth, with a distinctly saline minerality (which might be the only constant here). By night two it reached its destination of charmingly pleasurable and no longer required as much thought, thankfully. — 9 years ago

Good, small, constant streams of bubbles. Hints of bread yeast on the nose. Bright lemon on the palate. Great find to celebrate good news tonight! — 9 years ago

Strong glycerin nose upon opening but dissipated quickly. Constant changing complexity. Hard to pin down but definitely interesting to drink through dinner, ever changing. — 11 years ago
Fuck yes... Finally little citrus, ripe fruit and a bit of balsamic notes. Very small bubbles by constant — 12 years ago
