In its prime and gorgeous. Opens like a rose in bloom. Ripe, approachable, and with substantial depth. The Petit Verdot shines in the finish and rounds everything out to a "T". To my humble opinion, this 2007 Meritage is the Standard bearer, for reds, for the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. — 11 years ago

Wow was this a pleasant surprise! Not like most Virginia wines this wine had some body to it. Not too complex but this wine had nice balance of tannins to acidity. Barboursville is probably the best vintner in the Commonwealth. This wine is drinking well and had another 5 to 10 years in it. — 10 years ago

What a nice wine for pairings. Just a beautiful match for a variety of seafood dishes at Commonwealth. Pure minerality and beautiful acidity with white flowers and wet rocks.
