This is the reason I like Sancerre. Smells of lemon and citrus mixed with some melon notes. You taste the lemon and citrus at first but then quickly followed by layers of cream ... like lemon curd with less lemon flavor. Nice acid and sour notes at first but not too much. — 5 years ago
If tasting this blind next to a Calais Cuvee du Canton, you would think it was two different vintages of the same wine. Similar to the Calais, this has a nose of roasted fig and plum. Opens with a black fruit, fig, and spice cake note. Plum comes in to play towards the fimish and almost a blood orange type of citrus comes in as well. Finishes with some acidity but overall I'd say this is where the Calais actually exerts a little bit of dominance. Overall, a very nice wine. Still think it has a few years to develop. Wanted badly to rate it 9.3, but it just wasn't there. — 6 years ago

Outstanding cab for the price ($20). Deep plum and dark fruit on the nose, with an underlying sweetness and wet earth. Viscous and balanced on the palate, with a welcome touch of acidity. Alcohol high at 15.6%, but that's a quibble. Great small production recommendation from The Main Course in Canton, MA. — 7 years ago
Tea, berries, a little cocoa, good tannins. Liked it a little more than the 2013. From Shawn's. — 8 years ago

Joe Martin, established St. Francis Vineyard in 1971, planting 22 acres of Chardonnay & 60 acres of Merlot. He opened the winery in 1979 with partner Lloyd Canton. Dk berry fruits, spice & cedar aromas. Black cherry and blackberry flavors with tobacco, oak and pepper spice. Well structured firm tannins (needs decanting) lingering, complex ending with subtle earthy tones. Very Nice, easy drinking will age a bit. — 7 years ago
