This was the consensus favorite against Pegau Reservee same vintage. Both great and elegant. — 8 years ago
Very solid CdP. Was able to successfully follow an '06 Pegau. Nuff said. — 9 years ago
One of the coolest winds I've had in ages- like melted twizlers — 10 years ago
Pop and pour and ready to go from jump. Silky smooth, balanced and classy. Fantastic expression of CDP and a real surprise for me because I haven't enjoyed this maker this much in the past. I grabbed it tonight instead of a Pegau and I'm glad I did. — 10 years ago
Dark mocha- Brown sugar - concentrated red/ruby fruits, mouthwatering but borderline jammy - oak tannins seem to provide the structure - 91 points - lost to Pegau 1997 CNDP (13 to 9) but may not have been a fare fight:: France vs California by learnaboutwine.com 5.25.14 #delectable #wine — 11 years ago
My first case purchases were Dom Pegau and Beaucastel, ‘98s. I was a complete novitiate, but I loved Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This is the last of those. I was sure it wouldn’t show well. Boy was I wrong. This is elegant and gorgeous. Soft and delicate. Loads of tertiary development but not of that pruney too-old-you-should-have-opened-this-earlier stuff. As emotional a glass of wine as I’ve had. Brilliant. 98 for a ‘98. — 5 years ago
Magnum 2001 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche burgundy. Lunch at T house w B&ML M and L&M T. We love this wine, tho it unfortunately paled in comparison to the '03 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape. — 8 years ago
2005 vintage extremely tasty. Tastes great and this wine has another 20 years of life. No doubt a superb effort but I am very worried. Just like Bordeaux is no longer claret, rayas is no longer a delicate wine. Rayas was a delicate, subtle, light colored, feminine wine. It has become high alcohol, big color, masculine wine. Very good but I miss the elegance. Has Emanuelle Reynaud listened too much to RP. We don't need another Pegau. Rayas was just fine as it was. — 9 years ago
Pegau meets Torbreck Steading. Glorious GSM. — 9 years ago
2006 SQN Raven on 8/1/15 at the Lanes for a Rhone Tasting. Stewed dark fruits & spices; delicious fruit with a lovely mouthfeel and a nice finish. WOTN slightly beating a 2006 Guigal Cote Rotie Ampuis and a 2000 Pegau Reserve which were tied for 2nd. Fun night! — 10 years ago
Lovely older Grenache, this saw barriques (I think?) so is more rounded than the two 1989 CdPs we drank it with (Pegau and Les Cailloux), nice juice. — 10 years ago
Join venture pegau and les cailloux they have had this label now for over 10 years — 12 years ago
Maybe on the down side. Some dried fruit some soft tannins — 5 years ago
A standout that got better with every sip. Rich and velvety. Bacon fat and smoked meats. Seamless. For most of the group this edged out a punching-above-its-weight ‘04 Pegau. Perfect extraction and pronounced woodsy tannins suggest 10-20 more years of evolution. — 6 years ago
About last night... What started out as a BDX dinner got hijacked by this. OMG this was amazing. My last bottle and meant to drink next to the 03 Pegau. Blew away the field IMO, and was a heavy crowd. Dark, multidimensional and amazing balance, fruit and finish. So much better than the bottle I shared a few months back. Every now and then you catch a wine in its perfect apex. Finally caught this one. I don't give out dimes that much. This gets one. 10 — 9 years ago
Full of fat juicy filthy Grenache. Really great vanilla and cherries. 2nd best CNDP I've had after Domaine Pegau. — 10 years ago
I like the licorice flavor, reminds me a Domaine de Pegau or a Santa Duc
