We often read discussions of wines that deserve more respect than they are designated. Villages that drink like premier crus; premieres that aspire to be GC's. in this case, we have a "lowly" villages lieu-dit surrounded on 3 sides by great Gevrey GC climats. Such a sweet spot of intense savory fruit at a price point that blows your mind. Thoroughly impressed with the pedigree of this wine, and the visceral edginess that Gerard Raphet imparts here. Spicy, fresh acidity, vibrant mesmerizing tannin, ripe cherry, earthy to the core. Soooo Burgundian! Enjoyable now (with a brilliant succulent Mahi-mahi), but will be so much more incredible in the mid-2020's. — 7 years ago

Smoky, earthy, funky & awesome. — 9 years ago
Truly stunning- a complete wine with power and finesse. Bursting with sweet red fruit. Intense minerality. Ample weight without feeling heavy, and a finish that seems to last all day. The delicacy and sweetness of Volnay with the power and structure of Gevrey. Leather, licorice, tobacco, smoke. In a blind tasting this would be hard for me to differentiate from a 1er cru Burgundy. Easily the best Sancerre rouge I’ve had the opportunity to taste. Will age for 15 years or more. Gorgeous wine. — 6 years ago

Nicely mellowed 2011 and still a good amount of the familiar Haisma spice. — 7 years ago
Niiiccce. Huge limestone and contrasting canned pineapple and pear. Monster wine, lots of material here but still waiting to integrate. — 8 years ago
A dusty and oaky nose with undertones of a damp cellar. Not a bad wine but it lacked some structure. It was nice with food but the finish was all over the place. The acid will make you pucker up but only for the briefest moments. — 9 years ago
Great with lamb, and not too fruity — 9 years ago
2011: lovely and very elegant. Not a profound nose, but alluring with a spring flowers touch, chalky stone and good fresh primary fruit (Apple, peach). Quite nervy on the palate with a distinct vein of minerality. Med- bodied, with fresh acidity and only lightly creamy, with a hint of oak to finish. Real top stuff. — 9 years ago
Benchmark producer of Pouilly-Fume for me. The 2010 was a bit more polished, and the 2011 a bit more feral. I love both sides of SB. — 9 years ago
A little coiled, probably should have decanted. Still a lot of tension even in a 21 year old wine... — 10 years ago
