Côtes de Blaye Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Tonight we are having the 2018 Château Ségonzac Côtes de Bordeaux Blaye, France. Blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The nose has notes of black cherry, black raspberry, fig, black currant, bay leaf, violet, licorice, chocolate, spice and earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, mint, licorice, spice, hints of oak and earth.

This is a beautiful full bodied wine with a succulant velvety mouthfeel and medium + to high acidity and medium + grainy tannins that moves wonderfully to a long dark fruit spicy earthy finish. This is a wonderful QPR and a wine I would not mind drinking on a regular basis. Hump day is a beautiful slide into a new weekend. Have a great rest of the week and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

@Daniel P. Drake love your reviews. If your territory manager in upper Midwest role ever brings you to Rochester give me a shout. I know an awesome restaurant you’d like and have some wine I’d love to say Nostrovia to!

The Blaye vintners are very active and ambitious. Certainly a region to watch and buy.

Vieilles Vignes Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Perfect for a nice dinner at home with a significant other. Dry but not too dry with a hint of sweet that slowly dissolves off the tongue. I love it. — 9 years ago
