Surprisingly good. Chateau Chauvin is near Cheval Blanc, and this is from the famed 1982 vintage. But still, this was a producer that had essentially lost its way until the 90s. Well, apparently the 1982 vintage transcends those issues. A fine mature Bordeaux tasting of leather and tobacco. — 9 years ago

Napa's answer to Cheval Blanc. Incredibly aromatic and the best domestic merlot/cab franc blend out there. Great job Lou! — 8 years ago
Reddish ruby with a little brown. Almost opaque. Pure nose of black cherry, mint, herbs, cola. Incredibly rich and round in the mouth. Long finish. Guessed old Heitz Martha's Vineyard. I think that's a complement to both. Opened 5 hrs in advance and then drunk over 4 more hours, this became more refined with time. Kind of angular versus the more opulent 45 Mouton. Parker's favorite wine the legendary 47 Cheval Blanc. What a treat to compare the two side by side. I think the 45 Mouton wins at the wire tho. — 9 years ago
3L 1982 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. Drank at Art/Film as the first of two reds, with 1982 Cheval Blanc. This wine was ready to drink right from the first pour. Absolutely perfect, it was like silk. Pure velvet. Lorraine and I absolutely loved this wine. Much smoother and less vegetal than the Cheval Blanc, which perhaps was also more nuanced. Great wine amazing treat. — 9 years ago

Thus was the wine of the night! After Mouton, Cheval Blanc and a great Ch du Pape the Amarone was my highlight. I guess there's no accounting for taste. — 11 years ago
Insane, from 2001. Cheval Blanc who? — 11 years ago
Barolo 1999 Falletto, Champagne Jacquesson Millesime 2002 e Cheval Blanc 1993. Such a good night — 12 years ago
1988 vintage. At Cheval Blanc for dinner with Olivier for dinner. Medium ruby hue. Amazing nose - pencil sharpening, cedar, dark fresh plums. Black currant notes. Savoury. Smokey and earthy. On the palate, excellent electricity and tension - medium plus acidity, medium body and alcohol and great concentration. Huge finish. Very very good. Drink now until 2027. Interesting to drink alongside the Chevals. Much less muscle and more feminine. — 8 years ago
One of the best whites I have tried. Great aroma, lemon and apple notes without being dominated with acidic. Crisp, light, great extra cold. I would buy a case. Bought at #freshmarket — 9 years ago

This property is near Cheval Blanc, or so I am told:-) Beautiful nose of flowers, plummy flavors, and overall fresh quality with some hints of tasty oak. They like to say in Bordeaux that the worst thing about the 2006 is that it followed the 2005! — 11 years ago
