Again, brilliant! Far more Chinon/Old World than 99.5% of the CF in the Mid Atlantic. While bit more body than the ‘16, but day 2 & 3 showed how much potential this has in the cellar :) — 5 years ago
2018. Great year here dark fruits. Big and concentrated. 6 pv. 3 cf 50 merlot. 41 cab. — 6 years ago
Victoria from Bevan Cellars came to town and put on a wonderful tasting of some current releases.
See my note on the EE for my thoughts on the comparison. This seemed closed at first so I initially favored the EE, but the CF aromatics here won me over by the end of the night. Explosive nose full of rich blackberries and spice. Potpourri too. Velvet like finish. These cabs were only bottled in April and even with a 4-hr decant, they drank well (Bevan signature style). — 7 years ago

One of the best CF I’ve had, even at P&P, giving the rest of the bottle 4 hours considering its a 13. The 05 was the only other Vineyard 29 CF I’ve had and that was fantastic, so decided to buy some 13 & 14. But I’ve only had 4-5 bottles of different CF, so my experience with them is 👎🏻🤷♂️. Curious how the 14 is considering most 13’s are tight wines, I’ll check it out later. — 8 years ago
Complete and spectacular representation of CF from the old world. Like YO-YO Ma playing the score to the Sound of Music. Sensual and poetically articulate. Stunning $19 bottle that had 3 full days of life! — 5 years ago
Vila. Cata Saint Julien. 325,00
69% CS, 19,5% Merlot, 11,5% CF.

Enjoyed this 95 CF 5 CS blend from Saumur. Classic mineral backbone was present, just enough punch, but the best was its rounded and elegant texture that manifested on the palate. Not devoid of character, not sterile by any means, but just a classic Loire CF that decided to dress up for the evening and showed well. Clean, layered, downright drinkable — 7 years ago
12’ Favia La Magdalena. Couldn’t wait any longer, had to open a bottle.
Even split of Cabernet/Cabernet Franc.
Holy smokes! I taste a dozen different things in this wine. Nothing stands out. If you have an opportunity to pick a few bottles up… Do it! Drink over the next 10+ years. CF blend Genius! — 8 years ago

Loved how this was showing. CF dominant, lifted and fresh with such deep concentration and purity of fruit. This has stuffing as well, a structure that can support aging I would guess. Pretty layered and complex for a “second” wine. — 8 years ago
16.5 Good fruit ,m+ length, good acidity, just what you want from a Loire CF. Great with fat fish. Note: 6+ years old, very fresh. — 5 years ago
The second label of Chateau La Mission Haut Brion. A lovely elegant and appealing blend of 56% CS, 39% Merlot, and 5% CF. Delicious and still young, another great example of the nice surprises that the 2008 vintage had to deliver. Full of cassis, earth, chocolate, cedar wood, full body, rich, firm tannins, fruity complex finish. My score 90, drink to 2025 — 7 years ago
Nice blend (48 CS, 41 Mer, 11 CF). Opened it a little cold but it got much better as it warmed up. This wine has really mellowed out. The fruit still comes through and the pepper from the Cab has softened. This is a very nice wine. — 8 years ago
58% CS, 33% M, 6% PV, 3% CF
Slightly bricked garnet red, compact rim, more red than purple.
Pretty bouquet - red cherry, dried herbal aromas, leather, tobacco, mineral.
The palate is harmonious. Integrated tannin, med plus acidity, dry, medium bodied. Showing a lot of red fruit character, animalistic, floral. Very classic Margaux-esque character.
This wine is at the perfect drinking spot. No need at all to wait. After a solid month of full bodied, extracted Napa Cab, this is a welcome reprieve! 90. — 8 years ago
David Walser
51% CF, 49%ME. Enjoyed the wine & blend. For me, these wines are a bit rough when young but smooth out nicely with age. — 4 years ago
