AJ 95/100 - Sboccatura tre anni, e questo aiuta la straordinaria freschezza insieme al fatto che diversamente da altri questa annata non ha fatto malolattica. Giallo paglierino limpidissimo, naso intrigante con attacco balsamico, note di mandorla, fiori di montagna, lieve pietra focaia, perlage finissimo e persistente, entra in bocca con incredibile freschezza e acidità, incredibilmente il tartarico mostra ancora i muscoli, forse anche un po' troppo per una simile annata: si perde un po la corrispondenza con il naso. The 2001 Dieci Anni Vigna Rionda Barolo Reserva opened with dark fruits, cola, brown sugar, leather and dried violets. As the bottle developed the cola continued to thrive with more red fruits coming through with even a hint of heavy strawberry and cream on the end. An exceptional bottle — 7 years ago

100% Pinot Noir.
Medium garnet with bricked/sun-dried undertone. Clear and compact rim.
Lots of secondary characters showing in the aromas with cured meat, mushroom, old leather, dried cherry. Yet decent amount of fresh (and almost candied) red fruits still very much present.
The palate is less integrated (and probably less interesting). Integrated tannin, medium high acidity, medium bodied, dry. Traces of un-integrated new oak spices, red candied cherry, vanilla seeds, cinnamon stick with some complexity developing in the background.
Overall, this wine confuses me a little with its future direction but at the moment I like it enough to happily drink a few glasses if offered. 90. — 7 years ago
