This 2007 Rioja Alta is a blast. I have to admit that the nose was not very enticing. Nice, but nothing to write home about. But then, at the palate, it was a feast. Fresh herbs, with a black fruit, silky aftertaste. Rioja Alta’s magic craft at its finest. Tremendous value for money. — 7 years ago
2008 vintage. Stood out at the Cape Mentelle International Cabernet Tasting back in 2011 of the 2008 vintage. Ripe berry fruits with modern oak treatment and that Margaret River herbal trademark. Good concentration and balance with a persistent finish. Impressive. First one since the tasting 5 years ago. Has a great future but in a very good place right now. — 9 years ago
Sour funk but a sweetness from the fruit. Almost smells like Alsace Pinot Gris but super light on the palate. Good bubbles still for 2 years in — 9 years ago

First Littorai experience and this is breathtaking. Ted Lemon is a master of the craft! Meyer lemon, preserved papaya and pineapple with notes of honeysuckle, oyster shell, and just starting to take on the nutty, almond goodness of aged chardonnay. I love this! — 8 years ago

Freeman Vineyard & Winery is the fruition of a 20-year dream shared by Ken and Akiko Freeman to craft cool climate CA Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Aged for 11 months in French oak (about 25% new). Aromas of berry fruits with tea and tobacco notes. On the palate blackberry and cherry with tobacco and tea spice, soft tannins, well balanced, vivid acidity on lingering finish ending with earthy tones. Will keep in cellar for some time. — 6 years ago

Wow. Really impressive go at Basque cider from Shacksbury, which has quickly become one of my favorite cider producers in the US. Bone dry, great acid, perfect amount of volatile vinegar-y funk, with a great savory side. Delicious essence of tart, slightly bitter apple. I believe this is actually done in collaboration with a Basque producer using local apple varieties. Definitely captures a very similar character to what I expect from Basque cider. Great stuff. — 7 years ago
