I know a few of you know about the Cape Winemakers Guild. If not I highly recommend trying to hunt them down or make it out to SA for it.

Deep garnet ruby red. A bit stinky on the nose with savory, meaty, and gamey notes. A touch smoky too with a touch of sweet spices and red berries undertone. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Dark fruit on the attack with solid stoney notes. Some sweet spices too and more red fruits coming through. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2027.

Keplinger Biyela Red Blend 2012

Interesting project pairing U.S. winemakers with those from emerging global economies. Ntsiki Biyela, the South African half of this pairing, is a rising star and I'm dying to get her stuff solo. This one's a unique blend, at least for me: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, with some Malbec and merlot. Rich and ripe, dark fruit, fairly straightforward but wonderfully intense flavor. — 10 years ago
