Richer version of GdT than some. Great balance of fruit and acidity. Long finish — 10 years ago
Pretty pale straw color with fresh, citrusy aromas. Notes of apricots and peaches, with just a tad bit of nuttiness. Nice minerality with crisp acidity. — 10 years ago

Poggio al Tufo is a relatively new estate in the once swampy Maremma in coastal Tuscany. Tommasi, of Amarone fame planted vineyards here in 1997. The Alicante Bouschet grape is new to Tuscany, although getting more popular. This wine is a deep purple in the glass , delivering pepper, black fruits and smoke to the palate. Tannins are still a little harsh so this will benefit from another year or two in the bottle. Interesting wine from this interesting grape.

Deep amber from 36 hrs skin contact; complex leesy nose and taste from 6 mos on lees. Apple skin, some pear notes. Acid comes thru well; flavors verge on oxidation but very satisfying, would be great with food. — 9 years ago
Remember that time a patron asked you to describe a wine and you used the term, "mineral", or some variation thereof? Well, I regret to inform... you were wrong. It's okay though, you had no idea. Taste this guy and consider your game CHANGED.
