Amazing wine. If you are ever in San Luis Obispo, CA buy some of this wine! We stayed at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo and went to an event that served this Cal Poly wine. Starts out and has a hint of vegetables but finished sweet and fruity. Layers of flavor — 8 years ago
How do you say no to a wine dedicated to Cal Ripken? Not only does this do him justice, this is flat out an amazing Cabernet. Is it worth the $825 with the signed baseball? I'll leave that up to you. Regardless, the toasted oak and dark tannic fruits with this make this an age worthy stash. — 9 years ago
One of my favorite small production wine, 300 cases. Cal Nicholson spent his youth in So. CA & after a long marketing career he hung up his spurs to follow his 2 real interests in life – surfing & wine making. Jones is the maiden name of Cal’s wife Pam. A wonderful wine. Aromas of lemon citrus with herb, stone & tropical fruits. Palate, peach, Granny Smith apple & ripe melon flavors with lively citrus zest wrapped in lbalanced acidity. Lingering finish ending with mineral citrus finish. Consistent! Nice! — 5 years ago
I was surprised at how much I like this. I’m not a Merlot, fan so when I know it’s there, I have a predisposed taste in my mouth. However, this is fantastic! It’s fruity but not sweet. It has a well balanced, full bodied mouth feel with a beautiful finish. — 6 years ago
Dark purple plum skin color from center to the rim’s edge where some scarlet also appears. Opaque. Great fruit forward nose that grabs your attention. Notes of blackberries, ripe plums, violets, tobacco, forest floor and some crushed walnuts. Rich and silky in the mouth. Great balance and texture. Tannins perfectly integrated. Long finish. If a Cal Cab can be seductive, this is it. Still youthful but in a great zone tonight. — 7 years ago

Tasted blind. Dark reddish purple color, opaque. Looks and smells rich. Notes of black berry fruit, tobacco, some cassis and a little anise. Chewy in the mouth. Powerful fruit and structure - this is still young. Easy to guess as a young Cal Cab, althought it wasn't that young. — 6 years ago
Dark ruby, bright, doesn’t look it’s age. Awesome funky old Cal Cab nose. Notes of cherry, cranberry sauce, dirt and some balsa wood. Some steminess. Great perfume. Nice in the mouth but missing just a little bit in the mid palate. Really enjoyed this. — 6 years ago
Well, it is not a red but a white one. Excellent if not too cold. — 7 years ago
