Not usually a chardonnay fan, but enjoyed this for its lack of oakiness. Reminds me of an apricot pastry- buttery and citrusy, but I didn't find it real sweet at all. It paired well with creamy, caesar, peppery flavors. — 9 years ago
Wonderfully balanced offering from Picket Fence Vineyards. The bouquet produced subtle dark berry and as the wine breathed it tasted sweet with notes of vanilla and warm summer berries on the finish. Had an amazing night sharing this over dinner with a good friend and will definitely be picking up another bottle soon. Paired with steak, sautéed mushrooms and a Caesar salad. An incredibly golden hue is a delight to look at, but quit looking and pour. The nose is great, full of minerals and citrus and an earthy, lanolin sense that underlies it all. The palate is a tad tart, full of apples and lemons. An earthy streak rides from the front to the finish and the acidity is very refreshing and the mouthfeel is full and round. This is a great Caesar salad wine, or with pasta primavera.

Medium body, core leans toward opaque. Sits in the middle of purple and garnet, very clear rim. Pleasantly tannic, gentle touch of oak, and a short time in the glass takes the fruit down a notch and the pleasure up by many. This bottle will be fun to visit repeatedly over a good decade I would think. Just a challenge to make six of them last that long. Worked well with a vegan Caesar salad, olive oil braised veg, and aged parm, in that order, over a 45minute timespan. — 10 years ago

Quince and slight honey aromas. Bright, crisp palate catches you off guard then smoothes out softly with big mouthfeel and nuances of minerals. Paired nicely with Caesar salad, whole wheat crostini topped with roasted san marzanos, EVOO and blue cheese. Enjoying it with a kale Caesar salad at the winery. Don't find that it went well with the strong garlicky flavour of the salad - both are delicious but it just couldn't hold up to the creamy garlic. A darker colour than most roses, but with a very pleasant, light berry flavour. — 9 years ago
