Brassserie Du Bocq

Château Petit Bocq

St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

With its dense, somewhat chunky character, it’s a 2018 for sure. Showing lots of ripe Merlot plumminess, the nose also a bit of warm clay earthiness and underbrush notes. In the mouth it’s quite packed, with loads of plush, ripe fruit up-front. But the flavors also have a nice note of graphite as they progress. The tannins show in the back half of the palate, and they’re abundant but soft. Acids on the lowish side, but there’s a slight bitter note at the end that keeps it from being cloying. Give it a couple more years to settle in, but it’s not for the long haul. — 7 months ago
